So I'm relatively late to the party, but perhaps benefit from having the latest version of the UC3 operating system running.

@Edgar, I only received my UCR3 from the Kickstarter campaign recently (3 weeks ago for me). And yeah… waiting over a year past the original delivery date wasn’t exactly part of the dream. That said, now that it’s finally here—and now that I’ve gotten through setup—I’ll say it: I love this remote.
In fact, I’m almost grateful my Savant remote finally gave up the ghost, because I probably wouldn’t have made the switch otherwise.
But the setup definitely took a bit of getting used to.
If you’re coming from a more traditional remote world (Harmony, URC, Savant, Control4, etc.), the way UCR3 handles things—especially
Integrations and
Entities—can feel pretty counterintuitive at first. Between
@thrillcat ’s videos (thank you!), some forum digging, and a fair amount of trial and error, it took me a bit to wrap my head around it.
The “aha” moment for me was realizing that
Integrations are really the closest thing to devices, and
Entities are more like the building blocks you assemble from there. Once that clicked, everything started to fall into place pretty quickly.
From there, it actually became fun.
Now that I’ve created some custom images and gotten things pretty dialed in, I really love the look, feel, and flexibility of the remote. It’s clean, fast, and does exactly what I want it to do—just took a little patience to get there. And the battery has been great, although I typically return it to the dock each night for charging.
It does all come together—you just have to push through that phase where you’re convinced you’ve made a terrible mistake.
Next up for me will be adding Home Assistant so I can tie in my Seymour AV auto-masking based on K's aspect ratio queues. Everything else, though (Denon, Roku, Apple TV, Epson PJ, Lutron, HTTP POST), is working great directly over IP.
