How is everyone enjoying the M-700 Vault

Now that the M-700 is out how much are you enjoying it compared to the 100
Disc vault? My M-700 is working great. I especially enjoy the added space,
the solid built machine. The only thing I wish it had was a bluray DVD rental slot so you could watch one bluray without downloading it like on the M-500.
Otherwise I am very satisfied with the M-700.

Yeah, the lack of a disc tray is a bit of a drawback, but it is really an M300 and 320 dics vault, not an M500 plus a vault.

The M700 is a solid piece and I suspect will put a huge impact on the bulk loading business as anybody who has such a large collection to need outside loading help in the past would have their own vault and the dealer will have one as well. That is some relatively fast loading. It used to be that a server could handle 4 simultaneous loading streams at once - any more and it became slower to load. With the speed of the M700, I wonder if that number has come down to 3 or if the servers can still keep up with 4 of the M700 units at once.

The M700 is an impressive piece of equipment...the first carousel based device I have confidence in as regards longevity.

I noticed recently that the Speed Reader no longer appears on the K website.

Yup, no longer for sale new. K continues to support the product, including supplying replacement SR's for out-of-warranty situations.

Mines on order. I have no doubt it will be great but in my system its really just going to be a massive storage option. I'm not selling my MDVs. Im not worried about their longevity as they are full of discs and its not like they are moving around. At some point I will probably use the M700's internal player and Im sure it will perform just as well as the current M players. Looking forward to seeing this bad boy in person.

It really does fit nicely with the other K components, and yes, the internal player does perform as well as the separate Players.:)

I strap it on the back...:D

I love my M700! It just finished importing my collection after a few days. Only 114 BR discs - I held off on purchases until this device became available. However, I'm now at 73% on the server, so the vault has me thinking about the need for more storage in the not-too-distant future.

I'm glad they'll keep supporting the Speed Reader, as I have one and still use it. I think it's still more convenient to use for bulk loadings of CDs and DVDs than the M700. Stack a couple hundred discs in its spindles and watch the robotic arm go!

Really fantastic product. I intentionally waited for the M700, avoiding the third party interim product. I have placed my faith in K's build quality and attention to detail so this was my best option. I was not disappointed.

My only complaint is the need for more storage!!! That 3u server will be in my near future, as I had hoped to put that decision off for awhile longer.

As an aside, I am very pleased with the new scene selection for the movies in my library. Now K, get to work on a Mac based music player ;)

Yep, the lack of a Mac-compatible Conductor is a real pain. I have a mix of Windows and Mac laptops, and everything is so seamless on Windows. For my wife's Mac, we're running Conductor in a VM. So there's Itunes in the VM getting the music, but Itunes in the host MacOS syncing apps/videos for the Ipad. Since we sync videos/apps more often than music from the kscape, it's a more seamless experience to sync with the MacOS hosted version of Itunes for the Ipad. Having to fire up a VM to sync music isn't the end of the world, but it's unnecessary complication and takes away from the usual, wonderful kscape experience.

On another topic, I wish there was an easy way to remove DVD versions of movies that have also been imported as blu-ray. I started doing this in the imports list and found it frustrating that there's no type indicator (DVD/BluRay) in the list. Sometimes the Bluray movie comes first, and sometimes the DVD version - so you can't just use positioning to check off all the DVD versions when you see duplicate movie entries in the list. Pre-M700, it wasn't a big deal. But now that my 3U server is rapidly filling up due to vault imports, I'm beginning to scrounge around for space, so I want to delete all the DVD versions of the bluray movies. Anyone have any suggestions on the fastest/easiest way to accomplosh this??

Good point Joe. It is a pain. It would be best if the system were able to identify duplicate titles. Interested in an answer to this too

The *movie* list (http://my-kaleidescape/user/movies.html) doesn't indicate the media type for the movie but the import list (my-kaleidescape/user/import.html) does. If you click on the movie/music title on the import page, the popup window has an option to move the title to the trash. Still a lot of clicking but at least you know the one you are choosing is the right media type.

Inside the movie list you can click on the title and it will bring up the cover shot and it is simple enough to tell if you have the DVD or BluRay version from that.

That's the way I did it as well.

That's what I do now. Just thinking if there was some sort of script available to automate the process to notify me of duplicate titles it would be easier. I make a pile of my empty bluray boxes and go back into the list one by one.

Perhaps given that the process is temporarily needed (until dvd's are replaced) K doesn't think it's worth the labor to write that functionality into the software (although I agree it would speed things up). I also wonder how many of us have large BR collections with many duplicate DVD's. I suspect not many. That said, I feel your pain...:D

Oh Jim, my Disney/Pixar collection alone are all duplicates!!! ;)

But I do understand you're point.

What about the kscape app that tells you if the disc is already in your library by bar code? Hopefully it will be updated to tell you if it's there on DVD at least

I hear ya, I've got quite a few of those as well.
