Yep, based on past history, Universal has granted an exclusive right to Kino Lorber for the 4K disc only. The 4K title will not be available on digital platforms.Probably not since Kino Lorber is releasing the UHD disk
Kino Lorber is releasing many fantastic titles in 4K disc... and it seems K customers are missing out. They just announced "The Usual Suspects" for an autumn release. (Yes, I'm buying the discs, but I wish I didn't have to buy the discs.)Probably not since Kino Lorber is releasing the UHD disk
It is what it is. But because Kaleidescape is a pretty niche product, keeping so many 4K releases from K doesn't make a lot of sense to me.My understanding is that at this time, there are no EST releases of these 4K versions available. Obviously, we’d love to have them so we’ll be looking for any future EST availability.

I'm not sure I would characterize it as "keeping" the releases from us or anyone else. It's more of a question of whether EST assets have been prepared yet, all of the licensing requirements met, and so on. Just because they've authored a disc doesn't meant that they necessarily have appropriate mezzanine files that are suitable for digital services. It is what it is. In that they have *gasp*menus and interactive content*faints*, or something more substantive? My sense would be K's history of bookmarking titles would leave you far better equipped/experienced to process those into a deliverable product than most providers.Just because they've authored a disc doesn't meant that they necessarily have appropriate mezzanine files that are suitable for digital services.
