Web interface lag?

When I connect to the web interface, the response time is pretty much instant. But the time for it to respond post entering your PIN number is an absolute age. Is this standard or do I have gremlins in my network that I need to go find?

Can you provide a time reference (how long is the delay)? Ours responds within a few seconds, but on occasion it can be in the 10 - 15 seconds.

Hi both, resurrecting this as it's still an "issue" and I'm now in a better position to look at this (long story for another time...)

So, delay can be anything from 10 seconds to best part of a minute. I noticed it's particularly "bad" when the system has a bunch of new discs to identify in the vault(s).

I'm connecting to one of my Strato units. However I just tried direct to the Terra via IP, not DNS. Instantly brought up the login page, took 59 seconds whilst the browser said it was waiting on the response from the IP, then another 30 seconds or so whilst it was waiting on "fast.fonts.net" and then it came up.

You definitely should always connect to the Terra. The Strato players will serve up a browser interface, but in each system, there's a "master" component, and in a system with a Terra, that will always be the Terra. If you connect to a peripheral component, then those components have to make requests to the Terra to get the information to display.

I'm not sure about the fonts thing you mentioned. I will ask about that.

So, if an original system just had a Strato and then later added a Terra, we should still connect with the Terra’s IP address? Thanks. SJ

Im sure the answer would be yes to this. Just hit up the terra's IP

Correct. Server-capable products hold an “election” to figure out which component will take on the role of the master device. Various things trigger that, but one of them is any time a server-capable product enters or leaves the system. So, the “master” role can change. But in a system with a Terra plus some number of player components, it will always be the Terra.

If there’s ever any doubt (for example, if you had two Terras or just a dual-Strato system), just go to the onscreen display of any of your players, pull up the main menu, and choose System -> Status. You will see that player’s IP address, but you’ll also see the browser interface URL listed. That’s the one to use.

Ha, funnily enough Mike, I literally just noticed this on the status page properly for the first time tonight :)
