Vault and Failed Server

Hopefully this will not happen to many of us but just a point of note...

My 3U server failed, it looks like the power supply but I will not know until inspected somewhere, the dealer did not know where but not in the UK.

I thought OK I will eject a BluRay for the kids to watch....in fact no I won't..with no server I would have to eject every BluRay from the server. You cannot log into the Vault (M700 in my case) without the server to eject individual discs so you have to eject all.

I know they do not fail often but a feature where one disc can be ejected with no server available would be useful of an as and when it does happen.

While about as user friendly as bobbing for apples in a tank of hungry gators, you should be able to use terminal emulation over serial or telnet. The connection info starts around page 11, and commands around page 31, of the Control Protocol manual.

Without a server does the vault know which discs are in which slot? I didn't think it did but I could be wrong on this.

Probably not, I was figuring it might at least be able to report disc IDs, but more surprising is that they don't actually list an eject command in the manual. Would have to figure there is one though.
