Wow, so much in the store. Doesn’t leave much to look forward to. Great job on the KScape team for cutting all these advance deals!

Updated post #1 with known digital releases so far.

John

Belgravia and Knuckles have been available to digital stores for weeks/months. K already passed?
The Crown has never been available on any digital store, to my knowledge.
Interview with the Vampire appears to be distributed directly by AMC. K doesn't list AMC as a studio and didn't get prior series.

Some hopes and dreams not to be...
-Sweeney Todd 4K solo release on 9/3. K should add this overdue upgrade.
-Reacher is available to digital stores in 4K. K should get it and upgrade the first to 4K. (Unfortunately, we'll get it in HD.)
-Body Double is HDR/DV on disc. If available, K should update.
-World War Z has HDR/DV everywhere else. K should update.
-Mad Max box set hits 9/23. K should add HDR/DV to original.
-Nightmare on Elm Street 4K should be accompanied by HD sequel upgrades. (I mean, the Blu-rays are 15 years old.)
-The Addams Family Values has 4K HDR on the K Store, but the original is lacking HDR/DV.
Do I think ANY of that will happen? No, no I don't. However...

What if K actually gets the Friends Complete Series in 4K?
We're talking about 100+ hours of 4K HDR/DV. Considering the DV and HD Compatibility backlog, this would be a tremendous feat.

Looking at my preorder list for boutique and box set releases, I’ll add:

Sept. 17: Chronicles of Riddick 4K HDR — Arrow (HD only on K)
Oct. 1: Columbia Classics Vol. 5 4K HDR All The King’s Men / On The Waterfront / A Man For All Seasons / Tootsie / The Age of Innocence / Little Women — Columbia (Not sure of K status, likely only HD or just SD)
Oct. 8: Arcane Season 1 4K HDR — GKids (Not on K)

I missed the Columbia Classics release. I will add to the list although Sony releases have been hit or miss in the past on these types of re-releases in 4K.

I ordered chronicles of Riddick through atomic video store over the weekend, as it was in stock with them. It is already on the way.

Speaking about Columbia classics, I actually managed to get the very elusive vol 1 for $75 on Black Friday. I have since seen it go for over $1k on eBay. Like you, I’m waiting for vol 5. I even have the Sony Pictures 30th anniversary 4k collection. 11 movies set, which include Run Lola Run, Devil’s backbone, Orlando among others.

Wow! And now so have I! Glad you mentioned it. I’ll keep my preorder with Arrow just in case this isn’t a real thing.

As for the Columbia Classics v1, I also got it cheap, I think more like $100. But that’s crazy about the eBay pricing. I’m not selling mine anytime soon, but good to know. I had looked at that Sony box, but it wasn’t in the same slam dunk category for me at that initial view. Plus it’s a little harder to buy discs now that I have a K, and K has the one no-brainer movie I would want to own from that set (Run Lola Run).

Now available for purchase in 4K SDR/HDR/DV and HD with Dolby Atmos from Universal

Added in 4K SDR/HDR with DTS-HD MA 5.1 from Sony ($4.92 to upgrade from HD)

Ralph Potts gave a 100 for the atmos track on Chronicles of Riddick. Unfortunately the atmos track is unavailable on the Director’s cut, but still can’t wait to check it out.

With the slow release week I was really hoping we'd see a nice catch up in titles for 4K. Especially from Sony.
I'm tracking 23 4K catalog (disc) releases since 2022 that have yet to hit K (don't have a good source for 4K catalog digital updates yet):
10 Paramount, 8 Sony, 3 MGM, 2 Lionsgate
Hopefully with Strato V money flowing we'll see some progress here.

Interesting point on the Strato V. Do you mean that as in terms of the purchase of it and then the purchase/rental of movies? I wonder how sales are doing for them with the Strato V?

Regarding Sex, lies and videotape, I wonder if it features the newer remastered 5.1 track (criterion). Iirc Sony’s track was not quite robust. However I do understand that licensing would happen through Sony. I stand to be corrected.

For reference:

Edit: never mind I just noticed that the Sony track was actually Dolby TruHD 5.1

It could still be the Sony track, the source/mezzanine file will have a LPCM 2.0 and LPCM 5.1 track (and depending on the title Atmos track) and K encodes the 5.1 to DTS-HD MA

Interview with the Vampire appears to be distributed directly by AMC. K doesn't list AMC as a studio and didn't get prior series.
"Interview with the Vampire" has now come to Netflix because AMC inked a deal with Netflix. Don't know what that means - if anything - for digital purchase distribution.

I saw that and was a little worried they could be pulled, but the Anne Rice shows remain readily available for digital purchase on most digital stores. You can get Season Passes to them while they're running, so no need for an AMC+ subscription to see episodes as they're released.

The issue is that K doesn't appear to have a contract with AMC. I know that they received the Taylor Swift concert, but I assume that was a one-off thing. Other AMC shows like The Walking Dead have other distribution channels, like Lionsgate, but these shows appear to be direct. (Even the published discs have AMC branding.)

Looking at the release schedule (10/8/24 in particular), I noticed Five Nights at Freddy’s. However that was released on 12/23 (4k disc).

The 10/24 release is for a Walmart exclusive steelbook presentation.

Same with the Ring 4k (3/24-part of the shout factory ring collection) and world war z (7/23).
