US BR & 4K Releases for January & February 2025

Coraline added in 4K SDR/HDR/Dolby Vision with Dolby TrueHD Atmos from Shout Factory:

Oh yeah! LAIKA goodness! Let's get 'em all K!!!

I was provided an upgrade price of $10.67. I both own/scanned a disc as well as previously bought it in HD, so I'm not sure whether that's the price for D2D, Upgrade, or both.

Probably both. It's $10.67 for me as well. I only have the imported disc in my Premiere system, I've never purchased it in the Store.

The Brutalist is downloading :)
Only just noticed that this is only available in HD (rather than 4k) in the UK for some reason? Pretty much the same price as buying the 4k version in the US. odd.

"Clueless" now available in 4K SDR/HDR/DV from Paramount. (Upgrade was $4.92)

No joke, I've got a draft post saved for tomorrow that lists the 4K Catalog Updates that K has missed through end of February, and here they are scrambling with the clock counting down! Love it.

Pre-orders

I wish we got the original Killer from John Woo so I can finally retire my 1080i Blu-ray copy from 15 years ago. How about Hard Boiled and A Better Tomorrow too.
I grabbed an enthusiast 35mm scan of the Killer from rarefilmm a few months back. It’s mp4 but it’s not 1080i either so… haven’t had a chance to watch for the quality of the print they used. Fun options to have tho.

Cool! I really hope some studio remasters these early John Woo classics. The style, camera work, and editing would really look amazing in a good 4K transfer.

They’re on the way. As referenced earlier, Shout picked them up and announced the deal last month:

Added in 4K SDR/HDR/DV with Dolby Atmos from Universal

Speaking of catalog releases, are we ever going to get Drive and Punch Drunk Love 4K updates from Sony (there are plenty of others from Sony that are MIA, but I am still scratching my head on these)???

I'm continuing to track 4K Catalog updates on digital stores. Rather than wait until the end of the year and add my list to "Store 'Hole' Feedback" thread, I thought I'd add append an update to the end of these bi-monthly posts.

Here are the 4K Catalog updates that occurred on other digital stores in Jan-Feb 2025:

April Fool's Day (Paramount)
Delicatessen (Lionsgate)
Forbidden Kingdom, The (Lionsgate)
Hatari! (Paramount)
My Girl (Sony)
Rumpelstiltskin (Paramount)
Third Man, The (Lionsgate)
You're Next (Lionsgate)

It's difficult to track digital updates, so if you know of any I missed please let me know.

*All titles are from studios contracted with K.

FYI, the first two Golden Princess releases from Shout! have gone live as digital pre-orders on other stores:
City on Fire
Hard Boiled

There's no dates yet, nor have the discs been announced. Apple shows pre-orders as HD, but that's an Apple thing and doesn't denote what will be available at release. Fandango (Vudu) is showing 4K UHD, so I would expect that for all digital stores.

As these are distributed by Shout!, K should have access to them. If you're interested in K getting them when they release, get an email out to: movies@kaleidescape.com
