Turn them off?

Anyone have any info on if the players and readers should be turned off for any reason? I leave mine on all the time.

We keep our player on in the living room. The fan noise is not that bad and the blue light makes a handy night light for getting a glass of water in the middle of the night.

I turn mine off in the bedroom. On the others, I turn them off if I remember and am not planning on watching something for a while.

I have not turned any of my players off ..ever. They are in a basement rack so I never hear or see them.

I have had issues with HDMI where I have to turn the player and TV both off, then turn them both on. I think it is an issue with the TV, but I am not certain since that is the only HDMI device I own.

I have the same HDMI issue with my family room LCD tv and my HD Tivo. Sometimes I have to cause the tivo to interrupt the signal by hitting the ratio button and the two devices do a new "handshake" and the picture is clear vs. a purple haze. Go figure.
