• Thanks for visiting the Kaleidescape Owners' Forum

This forum is for the community of Kaleidescape owners, and others interested in learning about the system, equipment, services, and the company itself.

It is run by a group of enthusiastic Kaleidescape owners and dealers purely as a service to this community.

This board is not affiliated in any way with Kaleidescape, Inc.

The forum is free to use and most of the forum can be used by guests who are not registered....

... but we strongly encourage you to register for a full account. There is no cost to register for a full account.

Benefits of registering for a full account:

    • Participate in the discussions! You must have a registered account to make posts on the forums. You will be able to start your own thread on a topic or question, or you can reply to other threads/discussions.
    • Use the "Conversation" feature (known as "private messaging" on other forums) to communicate directly with any of the other users here.
    • Access the Files area. The "resources" area of the forum contains many "Favorite Scene" and Script files that can dramatically increase the enjoyment of your Kaleidescape system. Go directly to great scenes in your favorite movies, created by other owners, and add automation to playback of your system with Scripts.
    • You won't see this annoying notice at the top of every screen!😊

It's easy and free to register for the forum. Just click the "Register" button in the upper right corner of this page, and follow the instructions there.

  • 🔷Why can't I make a new post here in "The Marketplace"? 🤔

All registered users can reply to other members' posts here in the Marketplace, to respond as potential buyer or ask questions of the seller.
However, only members who have paid to become "Premium" members or "Patrons" can make a new "for sale" post here in Marketplace.

Premium memberships can be purchased for as little as $10... a very reasonable fee in order to sell equipment here, far lower than the seller's fee would be on eBay or Audiogon or other sites. Our site doesn't sell ads or sell user's information. This small fee is the only source of funds for the site to offset the costs it takes to run the forum.

For more information on purchasing a Premium or Patron membership, please see the Account Upgrades section of your user profile.

Hello-

My family and I are relocating and will not be moving our Kaleidescape system to our new home. Therefore I have a few pieces of equipment that I would like to sell. The items are used, but in perfect condition, and are as follows:
  • 40 TB Terra Server - 513 - Movies (480 are 4k)
  • 2 quantity Strato C
This is my first post selling anything here so please feel free to let me know if I missed any relevant information.

***UPDATE***
I forgot to include pricing. I was thinking around $15k for the Terra Server and the 2 Strato C boxes. I don't know what the typical resale price is so any guidance would be appreciated.

Email me with any questions,
Michael

Does someone know how that works if you purchase a system with movies on it? Do they merge with your existing store account?

it’s my understanding that they do not. The movies will stay in the owners account and the rights do not transfer with the equipment.

Encore may be different as the ones of those I’ve bought second hand had no content on them - although true they may just have been wiped by the prior owner. I can confirm though, that on Premiere systems, even if the system is unregistered, if the content wasn’t deleted ahead of time you can access it and it will add to your library when you register it

Vodder is correct and is an important distinction between the older/former players be that of the newer lines of equipment.

On any system, old or new, all downloaded content from the Store will be registered to the original owner - it does NOT transfer. All BR content loaded from disc will be available BUT it still requires a BR disc be present in order to play. It will show in the library but will be “grayed out” indicating its cannot be played. Any DVD or CD content should be playable.

apologies if this is a stupid question but couldnt the new/previous owners just update the account information like email address/payment method? Thats under the assumption that the new owner does not have an existing k system of course.

The movies are registered to the original owners store account and the new owner will not be able to play any of them once they login with their own store account. The only exception is if the new owner has already purchased these movies on the k store.

Sorry for the delay in updating. I was waiting to get a bit more information on the transferring of movies. It appears that the purchased movies will NOT transfer with the system and therefore I am changing the price for the bundle of 3 items to $10k (or best offer).

Thank you.

@mycool, please update if there are any changes. Thanks.

Jim

These items are now sold. I apologize for the time to update but I was waiting to post an update until the transaction was complete.

Thank you all for your interest and patience.
