Strato using a video switch

I'm trying to figure out what version of a movie a strato would load if it was one of the inputs on a video switch and there are 4 outputs, 3 TV's are 4K HDR while the fourth is 1080P. Would it recognize the HDR sets, load that and not play on the 1080P set?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts....

Depends on how you setup the EDID settings on the switch.

Auto-EDID with least common denominator: every TV will get 1080p, no 4k option.
Manual EDID or copy one of the 4k sets: Unsupported or no video on 1080p except when playing a non 4k movie with internal scaling of the Strato turned off. Pretty sure you will not get the on-screen menu as I think it's always 4k.

Some of the nicer matrix switches can customize the EDID depending upon what outputs are enabled. So possibly always 4k when the 1080p TV is not switched to the Strato, only 1080p when it is.

Honestly between the Strato, a 4k HDR matrix, plus cabling/baluns to distribute; replacing the 1080p set with a 4k unit would probably be a drop in the bucket.

Thanks Kevin,

I should have posted a bit more information. The last set is a 1080P projector, I just can't decide what 4K projector to get right now(not an impulse purchase:).

Thanks for helping out.

"4k HDR matrix" which matrix( model? brand?) is HDR ready?
i'm having issues with my set up where not all tv's are getting HDR running through a leaf matrix, switched it for a atlona, same issue.

i am running the following:
1 strato
3 strato c
3 disc servers
2 terra servers

I'm using a Purelink UX-8800. I know the Atlona will not pass HDR(only 10.2 Gbps). I took a quick look at the leaf and and don't see anything there about HDR. Few things to keep in mind(sorry don't know your experience and I'm by no means an expert):
1. Cables
2. No HDMI extender/balun will carry HDR today
3. Source, hardware and service.

Thanks, essentially I fixed the problem by ditching the matrix and going with multiple 4x1 hdmi 4K hdr switches and/or went direct to tv with strato/strato c with audio out to receiver for atoms rooms. I also purchased another strato so each tv has one now. It's a big system, and I'm very pleased that every room is getting 4K HDR now.

Tested 2 with a Purelink video switch, Roku Ultra and xBox One S. I got HDR from Amazon, Netflix, and YouTube. Strato next!
