Server Rack Cabinets

I have found a few posts regarding server cabinets but they were several years old. Wondering if anyone is using a server rack cabinet in their living room/media room. I have a storage room near my theater equipment but it can get somewhat dusty. Was thinking of keeping my equipment in an enclosed cabinet with fan/cooling or a cabinet that would look half decent in a regular room. I am thinking I need at least a 12u and will likely go 18-24 just in case I expand my system a bit. I have seen a StarTech 12U wood cabinet that has sound dampening and a cooling fan. Was thinking I may just use my wooden ladder shelf until my Kserver1500 1u arrived today. Much bigger than I expected, and cannot even imagine how big the M700 is going to be!!!

Really not looking to spend much more than $1000 for a cabinet, but any suggestions regarding a somewhat dusty area or a decent "living room" option would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

Jason

I know it won't help in your living/media room but I went all out and acquired one of these "soundproofed server room in a box" from a school via eBay - I actually felt quite bad bagging a "bargain" from a school... think they were happy just to get the space back...

It sits in my garage along with UPS, temperature controlled fans and bolted to the floor. Basically it's own eco-system of sorts and plenty of room for everything; front and back. They do a small one which might work "in room". Very expensive new but very much worth it if you can grab a bargain second hand one

Thanks Vodder!! I was looking at one somewhat like that for about $1200, still a massive savings compared to that one above. Appreciate your input as always!
