Recreating scenes after updates

It's unfortunate that we lose scenes after a title updates, but I do understand why that happens.

Are there any tips or tricks on how to log they seem that I have created previously, start and end time, so I can go back into the title after it updates and quickly add the scene?

We lose any user-created scenes (and therefore scripts?) after an OS update?? I'm a new KScape user, and this would be a major hassle, since I use these to demo my theater.

It is not after an OS update it is only after updates of individual titles by resolution or other improvements.

Depending on how many scenes you create, it's possible for movie UPDATES (not upgrades) to create a script that plays all the scenes in a title before you update it, export that script to a file, update the title, then import the script, which should add those scenes back after only a basic update.

SHOULD.

I haven't tested this, but I seem to recall it working in a slightly different scenario...

Tried this a while ago and this did NOT work. The updated title is treated as a different version so script does NOT update scenes.

I now record start and stop times of user created scenes and the. Re-mark in the updated version. So far these times have always matched up.

Curiously, do you create a database everything you make a new scene or only when you update? If the latter, what is your best practice for obtaining the timestamps?

I believe (but would welcome official confirmation) that only USER-CREATED or USER-IMPORTED scenes are lost after title updates. If there are scenes created by Kaleidescape (which is very often the case, and may represent the vast majority of scenes users have ever viewed) should remain.

Agreed, but I'll clarify that I am referencing user created scenes here. The app actually tells you if you have user created scenes and that you will lose them if you do an update. I at least appreciate that.

Right... i was just trying to reassure @DLCPhoto who seemed very alarmed above to learn about this. Wasn't sure if he was using his own scenes for his demos or just the scenes that come from K. I probably should have quoted his post rather than yours.

Thanks. And yes, I was concerned, because I was talking about user-created scenes. When I first read the post, it talked about "It's unfortunate that we lose scenes after an update," which seemed to suggest an OS update. But I later saw that this post was edited to clarify that it's just "title updates" that he was talking about.

So it's all good!

Correct, I edited after I saw your post. I should have made it known that I made the edit.

I just do this when I have an update to download. I have a control system that gives me time stamp of where I am in a title. I go to the start of a scene and pause and write down the time. I then FF to the end and write down the ending time.
