Kaleidescape noob here.

I have a Strato 12tb showing up this week. I’m completely new to the Kaleidescape tech.

I notice the store doesn’t have many of the concert dvd/Blu-ray titles that I want in my library.

If I buy a DV700 and alto, they will allow me to add and play most music DVD’s I want once I load my physical content. Everything will be in my main selection screen

Just don’t want to purchase premier tech if it wont work the way I expect.

Thanks in advance. I’m Really fast tracking this process and don’t want to make any mistakes.

Thanks.

IF you ONLY want to play DVDs and not Blu-ray physical discs, you can pair a Strato with a DV700. No Alto needed....

This is correct. However, if you have even 1 Blu-ray disc that you want to play, you'll need an Alto Co-Star paired with the Strato since the Strato is not capable of playing Blu-ray discs.

Thanks for the responses. I have a Blu-ray’s I need to play also so I will get all three pieces.

Thank you!

Question... I thought I read somewhere that the Vault would need to keep the Blu-ray Disc but you don't need to store the DVD in it. I bought the vault, loaded in blu-ray and dvd's not sure if I should try taking the DVD's out or not.

With an Alto and DV-700 pairing, you would have to keep the DVDs in the vault as they play directly from the vault the same as the BRs do. If you pair with a Cinema One 2nd gen or Premiere server + M class player, the DVDs could be removed if the paired system is 'grandfathered' for DVD imports.

Gotcha, that’s why I see “grandfathered” in some of the for sale items. Thanks for clarifying.
