Question on 1U server hard drives

I am thinking of buying a used 1U server but it only has 3 2Tb drives.

If I wanted to add more storage space can I add a 6Tb drive and keep the other 2Tb drives. Can you mix and match or do they need to be all the same size?

You can mix and match, but remember that as the largest drive, the new 6T will [effectively] become the new redundancy drive, so you will only get 2T of free space.

Oh...that's good to know. With 3 2tb drives I really only have 4Tbs? Or if you just have one 6Tb drive does the K system partition that drive for a redundancy space?

Right, with 3x 2TB-drives you really only have ~4T available for content.

I don't think your second configuration is valid, as you should need at least 2 drives in a Premier-line server. Otherwise, you would [at best] be stuck in degraded mode and unable to import content.
