As most here know, the new Strato-V has a uniquely different and updated UI in the Strato-V. The question for current Strato-C, Strato-S and Strato Movie Player owners, and those considering the purchase of one of those Strato Players in the future, is would you like to have the same "Collections" view currently limited to the Strato-V UI port over to the UI in the Strato-C and older Strato Players? See screenshot of the V Collections view below. Keep in mind this is the "Collections" view, you can still see the List, Covers, Search using the normal full view by selecting on the Remote.

As always, there are no free lunches. What do we lose in order to get this?

Yeah, I guess I'm indifferent. I'm not much a fan of either view, I'd rather efforts went to making Collections accessible on the mobile app (NOT second screen and NOT the IP interface).

None that I'm aware of, you would still have access to the usual full view for List, Covers, etc., and it wouldn't affect the resolution capability of those other Stratos, it's just a different view and function of the Collections section.

Would you still have access to ALL your collections, not just New, Played, and Paused? For example, if I created 10 different collections (e.g. "oldies but goodies, "classics," "must watch," "kids"), would all appear in separate lines in this contemplated UI?

If there are no performance penalties either, I think I like the new look.

Yes, of course, the only change would be the Collections look (as in the Pic above). Yes, just like on the V, I see all of my normal Collections (Child, Wife's Movies, Mother-in-laws movies (she has 3 😂), etc.. in the Collections section, and if you select the Full page on the Remote (Menu), you still have the usual List, Covers, etc..

In most other UIs wouldn't this just be another view option you could switch to? A cover centric view for the collection in addition to the existing movie name centric list view (like in MacOs Finder or Windows File Explorer). I'd like to see the new view option added, but keep the existing movie name list too as sometimes you'll want to view it that way, with a toggle button above to switch views.

Yeah. Officially undecided, since I can't really play with it, but if it was just a static row (like in the store, but no "see all" after a couple dozen) then I'm rather meh (and strong no as the only view option.) If it was more interactive (random order, shuffle, whatever) then it could serve as an OSD-collection-cover-view-light.

On the C, you scroll left/right to change collections, and up/down to change titles within the collection. On the V, it's the opposite. All of the collections are the same. The V is just "prettier" with cover art, while the C is more text-based. Functionally, they are the same, so it wouldn't make sense to have both on one player.

The only thing missing on the V that I have noticed is the option to clear the paused list. On the C, there is an option to clear the paused list at the top of the paused collection. That option is missing on the V.

The V adds the additional row of recommended titles from the store. Personally, I would prefer an option to hide this, but it's not a big deal.

I prefer UI consistency across zones, so I voted to have the C updated to match the V.

Correct, basically by adopting the Collections view in the V UI, we'd be changing the way the Collections categories are listed from horizontal at the bottom of the screen to the vertical as shown in the Pic posted above, and you'd scroll titles as @baltz described.

I've thought about this, and I swore that back when the Strato V was announced that it was also announced they'd move the new Collections view to C's. I actually see value in both views, but that may just be from habit. As it stands today, I think any view that's more visual is a benefit to Kaleidescape. It's just as many clicks, so no user impact, and it's "prettier" to see a row of posters. In fact, with large Terras and large collections, you could have a decent competitor to the poster wall. I voted NEW.

Without using it firsthand, I can't say I like it better than the existing collections screen. My gut reaction is to favor the larger single cover image that exists in the older collections view. Also, this new view gives me a bit of a streaming service vibe with an endless left-to-right scroll.

Of course, I may have a different opinion after using it 🤷‍♂️

They are both good and they both work fine for me. Undecided. But the new looks more like the first page on the store and that could be a good thing.

What I really want is to do the cover art view in a specific collection. It would be great to choose for example "Watch soon" and go to cover art view and only see the watch soon movies. It's a really great feature to choose a movie but with 4000 movies the cover art show a lot that I already seen.

On the C, I can use a “page down” to get through movies much faster than just going through them individually. I have collections with hundreds of titles. Is there a similar function on the V when going sideways through a list of movies?

On my C, it is about 4x slower going through a list of movies individually than using the “page down” function.

What does the currently used Collections view look like? I’m traveling and can’t just go look at it directly. And why not simply offer the option to display tittles either way?

So are you saying that would replace the current Collections View (shown below)? If so, then absolutely not. I love the Collections View and it's pretty much exclusively what I use because I love the huge cover art.
