I see where Shout factory will be releasing the original (not that shitty remake) on 4K! I notice its not even available in HD on Kscape :-(

That's actually a good sign that we'll hopefully get the 4K upgrade. This was available in Kaleidescape until recently (I own it), which usually means a title is going through a licensing change. Hopefully this means we'll get the 4K, this is one of my favorite movies.

I went ahead and preordered the 4k disc from Shout just in case. I'll cancel the preorder if Kscape releases it (unless the disc has DV of course).
 
I don't have any DV displays, so it's just about the 4K and HDR for me. The HD version is a pretty disappointing transfer in general, same as the blu-ray (which I own and have compared). A lot of film grain, which I like, but just very soft overall. It was a pretty flat production originally, but I'm hoping the 4K HDR can bring out some more detail and pop.

We even named our new puppy Bodhi.
