Today we began shipping a new storage option for the Kaleidescape Terra Movie Server. Terra is now available with 40TB of storage capacity, and can now store up to 720 HDR 4K movies. Additional Terra servers can be added to store even more movies.

Kaleidescape Terra is the foundation of a multi-room Kaleidescape Strato system. A Terra movie server can support any number of Strato C players, and is capable of serving up to 10 simultaneous 4K Ultra HD playback streams. A Kaleidescape Terra with Strato C players provides the best 4K Ultra HD performance, and the most flexibility for future expansion.

Our proprietary kOS operating system enables the Terra movie server to meet the content protection requirements of the motion picture studios. In addition, Terra is designed to continue operating even after a hard drive fails. When the failed drive is replaced, its movies are automatically restored from the cloud.

Kaleidescape takes pride in providing movie lovers with the finest movie downloads, in true 4K Ultra HD with high dynamic range, complete with lossless multichannel and object-based audio. This amazing video and audio quality is achieved using playback bit rates that are well beyond those of any Internet streaming service.

Thanks for sharing Jim.

I was curious and did the math:

24TB Terra = $333/TB
40TB Terra = $325/TB
 
Probably relates to cost differences in the different sized drives, seems like an incentive to get the 40!:)
