Good afternoon and Happy New Year to everyone. I'm a brand new member to the forum and am so excited to be part of the Kaleidescape community. Santa was good this year by gifting me a gently used Strato S w/ 6TB to go into my dedicated home theater. After installing it and playing around a bit, I can already tell that I'll be soon longing for an additional server/storage space. I see that Terra servers often pop up for sale on this site..........and also sell very quickly. Good to know and I'll keep my eye out.

Quick question as the new guy on the block: I have a large collection of 4k UHDs, Blu-rays and DVDs that may be a good fit for the disc-to-digital program. I understand that you must purchase a specific external USB blu-ray drive to hook up to the Strato for this purpose - - Does anyone have one of these that they no longer have use for that they'd like to sell?

Welcome to the K family, and to the Owner's Forum, there are a bunch of great people here, very knowledgable and helpful, have fun!

Regarding an external drive for cataloging, there were several models recommended by K based on some testing they did, but they also indicated it is likely other models work as well. We've had several Members mention other models that work fine as well, and my understanding is that they are relatively inexpensive, and there are several threads that comment on external drives as well. Thread 'Disc to Digital Blu-ray Drives'

Hello everyone,

I’ve just purchased a Strato V and I’m perusing the options, still haven’t actually bought anything as I try to work out the best prices!

Anyway I’m just wondering about the supported blu-ray drives, none are readily available in the UK and I am coming from a NAS server which I have backed up all my discs on. Has anyone used a USB enclosure with an internal drive as I was thinking of getting a Vantex NexStar DX2 and putting one of my ASUS 16D1HT drives in it which can also read UHD’s for the few of the more recent discs I have which didn’t include a blu-ray.

You may also find one in the forum Marketplace at some point, but frankly they're not that expensive so you may not want to wait.
