I've upgraded the forum engine to the latest version of Xenfo, which adds a new thread type: "Question", making a total of 3 thread types: Discussions (the regular types of posts that fill this forum), Polls (you've probably seen some of these on the system where each member can vote on something, and now "Questions".
When you make a new thread, you will see tabs at the top of your edit window that let you pick the thread type, like this:
Questions let others provide their answers to the question, just as they could before in regular discussions, but now all community members will see an "upvote" and "downvote" button on the right of each answer to the question, so they can vote on which answer is the best. Answers with the most votes rise to the top.
In addition, Jim (@cinelife), me (@josh), @MikeKobb and @J.Green have an additional capability - to officially designate one of the answers as the solution or best answer, locking it in at the top of the thread under the question.
Here's an example of a thread I converted to a "question" type, and added my vote, and then chose what I believe is the correct answer, just so you can see how the voting and answer-picking works.
