New C1 with m700, now and in the future

So I'm sitting here with two C1's and could really use a vault. The m700 seems to be more plentiful on the used market.

1: Does anyone know if an m700 can currently be grouped with the new c1 and just use the vault portion?

2: Tangent to that, when the Encore integration update happens, I know from the faq that my c1's will be eligible and the process will be the same as the premier line. In this special mode, will they work like the premier servers do, or will there still be the same c1 restrictions?

I realize we don't know or we can't say are valid answers. Examples:

2a: Could I then add a premier server or additional c1's for more legacy storage, or an I still limited to two c1's only?

2b: Will M class players grouped with the Encore now play back media stored on the c1's or just limited to alto / strato?

If 1 works, best plan of action for me is picking up an m700. I can use that until I run out of storage and then have options should any part of 2 not work.

If 1 is not possible, seems I should concentrate on upgrading to a premier first (I'll be in the same boat, with more storage and no concern of 2), then m700 (which will still work when 2 happens), then encore.

4k not an issue right now, storage of non store hd material and more storage is.

1: Yes, the M700 can link to a C1 (or 2 linked C1s). This was the set up I was using until recently. It effectively works like a DV700 as the player component is disabled in this case.

2: My understanding with the Encore upgrade is that the C1s can be used to serve imported content to the Encore system and will have their player functionality disabled. So it looks to me like the Encore system will not differentiate between C1s and Premiere servers - it is just an additional source they have access to. Whether the 2 linked C1s restriction is lifted I don't know, but I'd hope the M Class players would be able to see it all. Good questions though which I'd imagine Mike from K might be able to help with...

Whatever the answers to no.2, the M700 is a good investment if you're planning to keep imported content in your system. I bought mine with a view to eventually upgrading to a premiere system after I'd run out of storage. I've just done this and my M700 has magically become one of my players.
