My New Tech/AV/HT Endeavor - Techthusiasm

I tried out some more types of content and discs for the new Kaleidescape disc to digital program. Check out the results.
Couldn't help but notice on the Bruce Lee collection the one with the better D2D price was the only rotten tomato.

Warner isn't always the shiniest gem on D2D either, certainly not for shows (even ignoring all the DCAU not available in the store in HDR.)
  • Kung Fu S1-2 $24.99 > $19.36 (DVD-SD)
  • Westword S1 $29.99 > $24.07 (BD-HD, more ironic since the disc is from the 4K set)
  • Smallville S1-10 $29.99 > 24.59 (DVD-HD or BD-HD)
  • Batman Beyond S1-3 $19.99 > 17.27 (DVD-HD)
  • Batwoman $24.99 > $20.93 (BD-HD)
  • Young Justice S2 (the only one currently in the store) $19.99 > $17.27 (BD-HD)
  • True Blood S1-7 $29.99 > $20.93 (BD-HD)
  • Titans $29.99 > $24.59 (BD-HD)
  • Krypton S1-2 $24.99 > $20.93 (BD-HD)
  • gen:Lock S1 $19.99 > $17.27 (BD-HD)
  • Lethal Weapon S1 $24.99 > $19.03
  • Gotham S1-4 $24.99 > $20.93 S5 $19.99 > $17.27 (BD-HD)
  • Superman S1/3 $9.99 > $8.37 while S2 $19.99 > $15.87 (DVD-SD)
  • Superman: Braniac Attacks $19.99 > $9.80 (BD-HD)
  • Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman S1-4 $24.99 > $23.02 (DVD-SD)
To name a few, so it's not just a House of Dragons thing. That said, RWBY (later seasons,) Batman: Long Halloween (Parts 1 & 2 - but not Deluxe, before it disappeared anyway,) Deathstroke, MK Legends, and some others are properly pi'd. Conversely, there's movies like Superman IV at $9.99 > $8.64 for BD-SD, and The Batman (2022) $24.99 > $21.15 for BD-HDR (again from a 4k set,) so really hit or miss and hard to gauge whether going the D2D route is cheaper than just buying straight-up.

I wrote up a neat macro in my Control4 system for Kaleidescape that folks might be interested in trying out. It replicates the Apple TV "what did they say" feature. Check it out in the video.

Also, Techthusiasm just hit 10K subscribers and 2M+ total views. Pretty cool. Thanks for your support!

It is annoying that K doesn’t have discreet subtitle on and subtitle off commands.

Great job Jeramy... very well done video of your amazing theater room. Impressive project and more so that you did it as a DIY'er.
