Movies Anywhere

I hope so. And I hope that brings Fox and Disney content ownership into the fold. That would be huge for helping advance my purchase of a K system.

Hopefully K is also a participant. That would be logical. I hope it doesn’t turn out to be movies anywhere but K sort of deal.

If anyone has any info please share.

Yeah I am hoping K is a part then maybe will will finally have Fox and Disney titles being ported in from other places...

That would be ideal if K is part of MA. It'll be interesting to see what happens to UV. Will they co-exist or will UV go away.

Gotta admit I'm a little scared that UV will go away and K won't be part of MA. That would be worst case scenario for us.

I agree. MA will either be exceptional or terrible for K.

If they go full MA, they bring in Disney, Fox, and so on titles they lack today. If they don't get MA at all though, and DMA/UV go away, K becomes an island, and a very expensive and isolated on at that.

I am kinda co fused. Does this mean UV is going away? Are they merging UV/DMV? Or will both continue to exist separately?

@Mikekobb any comments on whether this is being worked out and will K be part of this group?

I'm in and linking accounts. VUDU isn't linking yet though.

This is now a must have for K. It'll be a requirement for me to make the buy (hopefully finally) on a K system.

Vudu now linking.

Gotta say it's pretty crazy to have all my Vudu movies (which mostly came from K store) now available on my phone (Google play), FireTVs(Amazon), and assuming my wife's phone (iTunes).

To all concerned, Mike will comment shortly on MA. May also post a short FAQ, but I'll save the actual comments for Mike. I can say that your interests and concerns will be addressed in Mike's comments. Stay tuned!:)

Hello all,

Yes, indeed, we’re absolutely aware of Movies Anywhere and have been following its development for some time. Because of how the technology is implemented, adding support for Movies Anywhere is not something we can do on our own. We require support from Movies Anywhere, and their focus for launch was understandably on the largest online retailers. We do plan to have support in the future, and we look forward to working with them.

In the meantime, UltraViolet continues to work just as it has. It’s worth noting that there are some differences between the two platforms. For example, some studios that support Movies Anywhere don’t support UltraViolet, and vice-versa. (Where they support both, generally your UltraViolet titles will also become Movies Anywhere titles.) Other differences: right now, Movies Anywhere supports SD and HD, but not UHD. It’s also US-only at this time.

We’ll have more to share at a later time.

Thanks for the update, Mike! Very exciting to hear that you plan to have support for Movies Anywhere in the future.

Let's hope that the studio contracts for MA stipulate that they can't opt-out of participating with specific retailers (like how Fox didn't support UV on K).
