I've posted about this before, but thought I'd share with the community.
Many of us find it hard to track which movies we have, which ones we've watched, trying to pick a movie, seeing if we have all movies in a set, and so on.
So from day 1, I've used an Excel sheet to track movies on my wishlist and in my collection, and many attributes connected with them. Over the last 2 years, I've updated the sheet with more graphics, calculations, filters, and so on.
So, downloaded or not, I can easily track which movies I have, and if I've watched the movie.
Here are some of the features, with screenshots from my own sheet.
1) Header
Number of owned movies, wishlist, $$ value you've spent, $$ value you would have spent if you paid in full for each movie, $$ savings using D2D offers, and many more.
2. Tabs
Tabs for Movies, Series and Documentaries, Music, and Demos, plus 2 sheets with collection data and order history
3. Movie entries.
Various fields I copy from the movie page in the Kaleidescape Store, for which I include the URL.
I mark which movies I purchased using D2D offers. If the D2D offer is bad, and I buy the movie during a sale at a better price, I remove the X.
I also track movies that are in my wish list. Basically, I put an entry whenever I see a movie I'd like, in my sheet, and add it to my wish list on K as well. That way, I know I have the entry ready to go in my sheet when I purchase the movie.
I marked a movie in red, because I want to wait watching it until I get the 2nd movie in that set (Another 48 Hrs.) Because the sheet has filters I use all the time, you can't always tell if you've got all the movies in a set when using the "Owned / Not Seen" filter.
4. Filters
I have a few filters I can quickly switch between:
- No filters allows me to add movies in line, and play around with any manual filters I like.
- Owned / Unwatched is my main view, allowing me to track which movies I haven't seen yet
- AMI Top 100 shows me the American Movie Institute Top 100 Movies. Some of these movies are not available in the store yet though.
