Mini System question

Hi folks.

Complete newbie to Kaleidescape here. I have bought a used Mini System 120. It is all plugged in and connected to the network via Ethernet. When I press the power switch, the power light illuminates and there is a whirring sound, like a cooling fan noise. But there are no other lights illuminated at all and none of the buttons work on the unit. The remote does not control anything either. There are no lights illuminated other than the blue power switch.

Have I got a dud unit, or is there something I am not doing and should be doing?

Thank you for any help.

Agree with smiley, but might also be a defective unit. If you are interested in going through hassle, the only way to know for sure is to add a working PS, the problem is you're on your own, K does not have replacement PS kits for that component.

If you cannot get it working, the only option available from Kaleidescape is to use it on a trade up to either a new Strato-S, or trade up to a 1U+ (you can trade up for other Player components as well, but you would still need a Server to store the content (in the Premiere line).

Thank you folks. Really appreciate that. I'm wanting a unit that stores DVDs. Bit old school but I much prefer the discs, and I really can't be bothered to build a system, rip the DVDs and mess around with Plex etc. Will look at the two suggestions and see which of them accommodate my 'disc storage' preference as closely as possible, if at all.
Thank you guys.
