Love the blazing ~800Mbps Terra download speeds!

I just upgraded to gigabit internet and the timing could not have been better given the higher download speeds made possible through a recent kOS update. See download history screenshot below for some examples. Being able to watch an HDR movie in roughly 15 mins is a whole new user experience value proposition. Strato systems can apparently manage up to 220Mbps, which is also nothing to sneeze at and a significant improvement.

Thanks Kaleidescape team! You could not have picked a better time to make this happen given the current environment.

I have gigabit connection as well, but only get around 500 Mbps when downloading to my terra server. Is there anything I can do to increase the speed of downloads?

I think some of it is location. I'm in Michigan and I see up to 600 Mbps on my Terra, usually in the mid/upper 500s.

@Kurvenal where do you live?

I definitely think it is location distance and number of 'hops' / staging points in the distribution chain dependant which comes on top of any ISP throttling / load balancing although speeds do seem to have increased recently with 4K downloads being generally twice the speed of HD ones.

I’m sure Kaleidescape and smarter people than me on the forum have done the maths on this, but at these sorts of speeds - and the inevitable improvements to come - surely streaming “proper” Kaleidescape 4K/Ultra HD Blu-ray quality becomes a possibility at some not too distant point? This is not to say that Apple et al would necessarily be motivated to provide the content in this quality for the masses, but perhaps this might enable a new model for a specialist player like K?
