I figured I would make a list of all available Dolby Vision titles sorted by studio and if they are Disc + Digital or Digital Only releases...

I know Kaleidescape doesn’t support Dolby Vision yet but hopefully will soon with an updated Strato player, I myself am really looking forward to pairing it to my LG OLED with Dolby Vision Support...

One of the coolest features of the Kaleidescape Movie Store is the ability to watch the HDR disc quality version of movies that are only available every else digitally, with adding Dolby Vision Support there would be many movies added that only Kaleidescape Strato users would be able to view the Dolby Vision disc quality version.

I can see in a few movies how having the variable type HDR like DV provides would pay big dividends. I'd love to see it too, though I have no displays capable of DV at the moment.
 
Well there are two profiles for Dolby Vision. The software/streaming spec and the "Sony one" (I forget it's name). So we have to differentiate there.

Next, Apple- with the AppleTV is the only 4K Dolby Vision devices that support Sony's DV spec is. FURTHER, Oppo failed to support the DV spec that Sony has-- and it's not like we are going to get a firmware update for that now (see Oppo Digital in the news).

Lastly, Dolby Vision is good. But HDR10 is good too. I wouldn't worry about another me too product that has a limited Disc Release-- since Kaleidescape Owners are only concerned with Disc bit for bit version and streaming is for the convenience over quality customer.

Think they named it 'low latency' or similar.

Oppo's solution is with Dolby for certification and they have said they will release.
 
Thanks for the info guys. I love the tech/geek stuff, but I think the industry has done a real disservice to the average consumer with what amounts to an alphabet soup of terms.
 
the hdfury can take dolby vision from the oppo and convert to HDR10+, you'l need that for the wall. That means those titles could be offered by the store in hdr10+ (dynamic metadata).

Yes but if we could get disc quality versions of the streaming titles like we do with other HDR titles only on the K Store it would be great... Dolby Vision is noticeably better than HDR10 on my LG OLED... wish I had it on Strato...
 
Dolby Vision is likely not a hardware upgrade it is a big fat expensive licensing requirement. Since Dolby produces nothing they need to sell their brand at a high cost. I am sure there are many companies that don't want to pay Dolby on video as well as audio.
