Kscape video formats

Having recently received my player and setting it up last night, I am curious about the video output of the Kscape movies re: HDR10+ vs Dolby True Vision. Is this something that the Kscape player/movies have that require configuration or is this configured at the studios and are simply passed through the system? I am looking at 4K displays and see that some don’t reference Dolby Vision ability and wanted to inquire about how this might influence a display in the correct formats.

K doesn't support either Dolby Vision or HDR10+, only HDR10. I don't know of any display's that don't support HDR10 (though no doubt someone will chip in that there is), but some may or may not support the other formats.

If you have other sources which provide access to Dolby Vision, then clearly you'll have to do some research and get a display that allows that to be processed, otherwise, take your pick of the available sets, hook up to K and enjoy.

Another one sucked in by marketing BS

Movies are encoded now with HDR metadata by the studios.

Some encoding is great, most encoding sucks.

If you want some degree of control you would need to spend about 5K on a Lumagen scaler. Its the only product that I am aware of that can override the metadata values embedded in the movies.

If and when companies want to spend the licensing fees that Dolby wants, you may see more product support forth coming.

Like the other gentleman said. Lay back and enjoy what you got.

Appreciate the feedback and comments. I’ve been holding off for a while to jump into the 4K/HDR market; as I’m now headed out to pick up a 4K display, I wanted to make sure that the various display markers I’ve seen on the disk jackets didn’t need to be taken into consideration.
