Kaleidescape & Home Assistant

Just wondering how many here are using micro SD cards on your Raspberry Pis. I was aware that they're not the optimum storage devices because the constant read/write cycles will eventually lead to a failure. Well that finally happened to me on mine which had been heavily used these past few years with my 3D printer in a not-so-great environment in a non-temperature controlled garage prior to being repurposed for HA duty. Of course I didn't have a backup to the micro SD so I had to start over from scratch. I went and installed an SSD HAT where i can use NVMe drives which are far more reliable. I would advise anyone who is using a micro SSD to make the change now before it's too late.
