Kaleidescape and Audio Books?

Hey,

You know how when you buy AudioBooks on CD a lot of times it's just a bunch of random tracks all blended in together? I was wondering if the Kscape guys actually took the time to get the data for audiobooks? Perhaps beyond cover art, breaking them into chapters?

If you are asking if Kaleidescape recognizes the separate chapters of a narrated book (i.e the Harry Potter series) on CD, the answer is "yes."

If I've misinterpreted your meaning of "audiobook," or the question being asked, my apologies.

Jim

Well, I've taken delivery of my system yesterday. Just as a trial. I loaded up the first disk of Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows. It read them all as tracks, no cover art, no nada.

At least it got the title right :(

Did you input the UPC code from the disk? K will work to get the cover art for that disk and it will automatically update. You can also send the CD/DVD to K and they will use it to update their database and return it to you. I advise clients to first import every disk in their collection, then gather up the disks without cover art and send to K.

Jim

Well it doesn't ask for a UPC because the disc was "recognized". It knows the title and the author, but the buck stops there basically.

Got it. That DVD, along with any others that imported without the cover art, should be sent to K to be included in the database. (I realize you are evaluating the system and may not care to ship the DVD(s), but that is the fastest way to get the cover art.)

Jim

It's actually just a CD. It's an audiobook, not a movie. I just added coverart from amazon through the interface.

To be honest, unless K is gonna take the tracks and break em into chapters, it's not worth even finishing importing the series let alone mailing it in to them.
