K at CES

K is not at CES this year, so nothing to report.

I'm not sure I would read anything into it, this is not the first time they passed on CES (IIRC).

If the comment is meant to question if they are having issues, I feel confident in saying they are not. They are actually quite busy, business is picking up, BR is still being worked on, and they continue to work on improving the K experience. Basically business as usual.:)

As far as going to CES, if the BluRay system is delayed, then what are they going to introduce? They already have a solid dealer infrastructure in place and their product is known well enough. Most of the people walking the floor of CES are not really going to fit into their core customer base anyway so the best they would hope to get would be more dealers.

I think that CEDIA is probably more important to Kaleidescape than the CES.

That's a good point. Cedia would fit them better. It seems that all ces was about was crappy, clunky " e-readers" as companies try to head off the inevitable apple tablet.

For many higher end companies these kinds of shows do create a positive return on investment. When was the last time Ferrari was at the NY International Autoshow? Probably has been a decade. As to the future- I think its real simple: Full BR support= continued success. No BR support= slow death.
