I’ve been using the Blu-ray disc template I got from this forum for my custom cover arts, and it worked perfectly until recently. They used to look just like the movie guide cover arts. However, since the Strato V and its tile display optimizations, my Blu-ray disc cover arts have become significantly softer, making the Blu-ray disc logo on the blue band barely readable. Has anyone else noticed this?
The template I use is 1080 by 751 pixels. Should I switch to a higher resolution template? I’ve observed that all movie guide cover arts are now artificially enhanced (sharpened), which started with the Strato V deployment and its subsequent software updates. I don’t want to jump to conclusions, but it feels like Kaleidescape might be trying to fix a flaw* in their new product by compromising the experience on older products. Is there a way to apply these enhancements only to the Strato V?
I really dislike the ringing caused by the edge enhancement on all cover arts, and I’m unhappy that my custom cover arts for my Blu-ray disc imports now look like they were taken with a potato camera. My custom cover arts are a necessity, not an aesthetic choice, because either the movie guide doesn’t recognize these titles, or it has the wrong cover art. Otherwise, I don’t enjoy spending time scanning covers, editing them in Photoshop, and uploading them to the servers. I hope I’m doing something wrong here, but what used to work flawlessly now doesn’t. It makes one wonder why.
*“Whether it’s a ‘flaw,’ ‘design choice,’ or ‘hardware limitation,’ my issue isn’t necessarily with the Strato V itself. They might not even be related, but the timing of my problem aligns with the complaints about the Strato V UI and the subsequent updates.”
