Issues Setting Up Terra/Player

New terra system is up and running. Movie transfer worked great. Thanks @MikeKobb

I have a new issue.

I have a bunch of movies that were purchased but not downloaded to my system. I went to download them all and they all worked except for the HDR only titles. I'm getting an error saying there are no compatible players.

I have a 150+ HDR titles that are not showing up on my system.

Another thing to note, not sure if its any relation to my issue...

My Strato-C shows up when I search the IP address in a web browser but it doesn't show up in my systems on Kaleidescape.com.

Do you have a HDR display connected to the Strato-C? It won't download 4K HDR without a proper display. You can check what video settings in the web GUI. SJ

My Strato-C is going to a Lumagen Radiance Pro and then to my projector.

Everything worked find when with my previous Strato-S. I just swapped the 2 out.

Something is reporting back to the Strato C that your system doesn't support HDR. And therefore, the store will not download HDR movies with that information. Did you use the same input on the Lumagen Pro that your previous Strato used? May want to check your Lumagen Pro settings (output screen and info screen) and are you using any of the special HDR flag features. SJ

The My Systems page on the web store only shows server components so your Strato C (which is strictly a player) won't appear there.

You can always choose to download anything. The store just won't suggest it as a best-available version.

Well... HDR isn't working again. Plays for different amounts of time then I lose all video and sound for a 2 seconds and then it starts up again. So frustrating.

It really sounds like HDMI problems (maybe EDID related, maybe cable related), but obviously could be something else. Support really need to look at the exact point in the your system logs that this occurred so they can tell you what they see. They always advise sending a unique set of numbers (55555, or 88888, any really) using your remote control to make the point easier to find in the logs.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the message. I'm using Control4 with the player as my remote and I don't believe I can input numbers. What I can do is pause the movie/show and give them a timestamp of when that happens.

I do have a remote for my alto and maybe I can try and pair that.

I reached out to support so hopefully they can help. I have also been talking to Lumagen as well and tried a few different type of cables.

Would the ethernet cables or my internet speed have any effect on it? Internet is fast. I can try different cables for that as well.

Understood. Just FYI, K only has two handheld remotes, the standard remote, and the child remote. You need the standard remote, which should be what you have with the Alto. The standard remote works with all of the K components, but it's possible your C4 system might lock out the K remote, but not sure. You can try both. When the problem occurs use the handheld remote in front of the K Player and enter the set of numbers, and also note the time (GMT is better). Forward that to K Support.

Doesn't sound like your ethernet cables, they tend to either work, or not work, and given you've had successful playback followed by a failure it's more likely HDMI (IMO). Your internet speed shouldn't effect playback. Once the content is downloaded the the problem will be with the equipment (K components, processors/receivers, display) LAN (Switch), or cabling.

Just got this from support:

"I connected remotely and changed 2 of your video settings, I limited the output to 13.5Gb and told it to 'allow display mode changes' from the default of 'minimize display mode changes'."

Thoughts?

I'm going to give it a shot this afternoon.

Sounds reasonable, probably saw something to indicate those changes would be better in your setup.

Jim

Control4 does allow numerical input, but I'm not sure if those keys are sent when the player is playing content. (The driver changes some key behaviors depending upon player status, and I'm not certain how the number keys are handled during playback if the chapter menu is not active.) Absolutely correct that the IR remote continues working just fine unless it has been disabled through the browser interface. I really should run an experiment or inspect the driver code, since I use Control4...

“You should have a better picture when watching a movie since the new setting will play at the native resolution (23.976 FPS) vs converting that to 60FPS (which is not an even conversion, causing a very slight picture degradation).”

Support has been great.
