HDR Vs UHD for JVC Projectors

Hi All,
I'm wondering if there's a consensus if JVC Projectors w/ tonemapping have a better experience with HDR versions of movies, or the non-HDR UHD ones?
Do you loose more color going to SDR or more brightness sticking with HDR and Tonemapping?

My own experience with the JVC DLA-NX9 is that HDR movies look great with the built-in tone mapping.

I'm still on an older RS600 model and I've been downloading both versions at first, then just sticking with the one that looks best. Sometimes HDR is great with it, others, it's just too dark and I got with the UHD version that looks great.

I have the X790R. Most HDR from the K looks great on it. The Daniel Craig 007 titles, however, look better as UHD only. I can't think of any other titles offhand that I've chosen the UHD over the HDR, but I LOVE the fact that I have the option to choose. This option is allowing me to get more life out of my projector before upgrading.
