Last year was my first October with K, and frankly I was disappointed. We all know that K does a great job with new releases, and if you're a fan of modern horror then K has you covered. All the new(er) movies in 4K HDR, when often they aren't on disc or only available overseas. Nothing but wins there, and all credit to K.
However, for catalog stuff from the 70's, 80', and 90's, it's a different story. We know that boutique labels are buying up the franchises, so Friday the 13th, Halloween, Child's Play, Hellraiser, etc. are (mostly) off the table for 4K digital glory. But, why are so many horror titles in SD? And, what about A Nightmare on Elm Street? Rumor is Warner won't license this series, so it could safely find a home on K. Why are the sequels in SD when the HD Blu-rays hit 15 years ago? And New Nightmare (7) is missing?
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is available digitally in 4K, so is the original Halloween. But, HD on K. Peruse a list of missing 4K catalog upgrades, and you'll see horror is the dominant genre. Last October had big 4K releases like The Exorcist/Exorcist Extended Cut, Rosemary's Baby, and The Mist/The Mist Director's Cut (B&W). The Exorcist arrived late with the Theatrical Cut only and missing HDR, with everyone waiting for an update that never came. The others we simply never saw.
So, for 2024, I'm going to measure my expectations. However, I'd thought I'd assemble a wish list for Halloween on K. I'd love to ANY of the below this October, or next, or... whenever. (All of these movies are available digitally from current K studios; all titles should be available to K.)
HDR Updates:
The Addams Family
The Exorcist
Under The Skin
World War Z
4K Upgrades:
Brotherhood of the Wolf
Coraline
Friday the 13th Part 2
Halloween
Halloween H20
The Mist
The Monster Squad
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Paranorman
The Ring
Rosemary's Baby
Scream 3
Sweeney Todd
Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The Wicker Man
4K Additions:
Doctor Sleep: Director's Cut
The Exorcist: Director's Cut
The Hitcher
Midsommar: Director's Cut
HD Upgrades:

Nightmare 2: Freddy's Revenge
Nightmare 3: Dream Warriors
Nightmare 4: The Dream Master
Nightmare 5: The Dream Child
Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare
Manhunter
HD Additions:

This list is mostly updates/upgrades K has passed on, I'm sure there's many more titles to be had. What are your wishes for spooky movies on K?
