Custom Collections that automatically add titles based on categories or keywords in title

Is it possible to setup custom collections that will automatically bring in newly imported titles if they have certain characteristics, like keywords in the title or the movie is a certain type?

For example- "TV Shows" brings in all titles that are disks of television shows as they are imported, or "Star Wars" adds all titles with the words star wars in the title as they are imported?

That is an excellent suggestion, but no... this can't be down in the system. You're describing something like "smart collections", analogous to the "smart folders" you can have in your email client, for instance.

Kaleidescape has their own auto-generating collections of course... the "New" and "Paused" and "Blu-ray" collections. But they don't let us users create our own "smart collections".

You could probably create programming running on another device/PC that could do this via TCP/IP control and querying, but it wouldn't be simple.

Yeah, I wish K had this and they were accessible from the same option that allows you to choose betwee covers and list views. I think it would be nice. K could have their own collections, and you could add to that.

I would also like to see the option to consolidate TV series as I described in and earlier post. There just doesn't need to be a separate cover for every season of "24," for example...

The "Watch Soon" folder is kind of like that. Titles will stay there until they are watched. You just have to manually add them though.

Yeah, we often buy and load a bunch, then a few weeks or more later they're gone from the collection and we're trying to figure out what's new

If it's titles that you just load that would be considered 'new.' There is a setting in the web interface under preferences called 'New movies and albums include those imported within' perhaps you need to adjust your setting to a longer duration?
