Most of this can be determined by reviewing other digital stores…
- Amadeus 4K ( 1984 )
- The Third men 4K ( 1949 )
We should know about these in a few days. They should be available, hopefully K will get them,
- Stir of echoes 4K ( 1999 )
- A nightmare on Elm street 4K ( 1984 )
K appears to have passed on these. I’d get requests in to movies@kaleidescape.com and hope they reconsider.
- Friends 4K
Fandango at Home (Vudu) made a lot of noise about having exclusive digital rights to the 4K of Friends at release. We can only hope that it was a timed exclusive.
- The searchers 4K ( 1956 )
- A simple plan 4K ( 1998 )
- Point break 4K ( 1991 )
- Name of the rose 4K ( 1986 )
- The Hitcher 4K ( 1986 )
- Mississippi burning 4K ( 1988 )
These are not available to digital stores. Buy the discs.

I'm really hoping "The Third Man" makes its way here...
Whats most frustrating is this complete silence from K . I dont understand this secrecy about future releases .
How difficult it is to come here to the forum every once in a while and just say , " No , this title is not coming to the store in the near future " , or " Yes , this title is coming soon " .

This has been an on-going complaint for many of us. We are told that studios restrict what K can announce. Seems odd to me that studios would not want to advertise their new releases in advance, but there it is...

A Request From the UK
The Lionsgate studio films are 90% junk and the rest are HD rather than 4K available on disc. I would really like you K to remove Lionsgate from the UK and replace them with Canal Plus, needless to say at 4K.
I too am irritated at getting emails from K about films only after the event.

Send this request to: movies@kaleidescape.com

Although there are some K employees on this forum, this is not an official forum for the company and is not monitored for requests.

As releases come closer and closer and even into the theatrical window studios don’t want people to skip the theatrical to wait for home release if they’re on the fence and anxious to see a title when the theatrical run is close to the end, because those are likely double dippers who’ll buy a ticket and a home version.

It's not the theatrical release that frustrates me, it's the disc release. The 4K of Terminator, Seven and Constantine all became available as the disc versions were released.

I would assume that any limits from the studio disappear upon release dates. So, yeah, if Lionsgate isn't doing pre-orders on The Third Man, K can't go around announcing that they're going to get it. However, after the release date has passed K should be free to say that it's on the way. And, we've actually seen this a couple of times lately.

I think the issue is that the vast majority of the time that a title doesn't show up in a timely fashion, the reason is that K has chosen not to get it. So, what we're asking is for them to make a bunch of posts saying "Sorry, didn't think anyone would buy it." I don't see the upside to that for K.

We could inundate them with requests after the fact, but then a title has to start down the pipeline. The best thing we can do is make pre-emotive requests to: movies@kaleidescape.com

Has a new 4K Catalog Update been announced that you want? Don't wait for it to maybe show up. Send in a request. Make a post about it here and ask everyone else to make requests. Make sure that K knows that weeks/months down the line, you want this movie.

It would be nice to get Strange Days from Bigelow too, even in HD only. There isn’t even a BD release for the US market for this movie. That’s a crime.
The Koch Media version from Germany is pretty good. Well worth the import. That said, it does blow my mind that it STILL isn't available in the US streaming or otherwise.

I want: Point break 4K ( 1991 )
I do too, but it's a Shout! Factory release that has not been offered to any of the digital stores.

I finally caved and bought the disc and it honestly didn't look any better than the HD version on Kaleidescape. Turns out I need to get a DV player to access the DV file on the disc because it looks exponentially better than HDR10 playback from the disc.

I'm not buying a new disc player until this one dies, but with 1-2 discs per year, it might take awhile for that to happen.

There might not be many disc player choices by then...

I'm not overly concerned about that, either. Hopefully that'll mean that these boutique studios wake up and realize they should be selling their efforts to the Kaleidescape crowd alongside the disc evangelists.
