CinemaScape Native 2.35 Display Scaling?

I'm currently using a 2.35 screen with a Lens Zooming Projector.

When the setting are "16:9 (default)", a 2.35 image fills the screen perfectly.

However, when "CinemaScape Native 2.35" is set, a 2.35 image has letterboxing on a 2.35 screen. Is the CinemaSacpe scaling the image to a 2.37 aspect? Is this the same for 2.4 and 1.78?

Clarifying question: how big are these letterbox bars? Are you talking about very very small bars as you'd see for 2.35 vs 2.37?

About 1/2 inch on 111 inch 2.35 screen.

I'll have to double-check to be sure, but I'm nearly certain that CinemaScape Letterbox applies a 2.37:1 clipping mask to 2.35 content, so that it has the same active area as the 2.37:1 onscreen display graphics. CinemaScape Native is probably doing the same.

It's worth noting that virtually all "2.35" content on Blu-ray disc is actually 2.39/2.40, rather than 2.35:1. For 2.39/2.40 content, I don't believe the player is doing any clipping, because the active area is already smaller than the 2.37 window.

1.78 content is output as 1.78 in CinemaScape Native mode, so the projector would need to zoom back to put the 1.78 content in the middle of the screen. If you prefer not to have to change the projector mode, you should use CinemaScape Letterbox, which will scale down 1.78 content to fit in the letterboxed region (with black bars on the side) so that the projector can be left in the zoomed position.

Thank you Mike for the quick response.

Personally l would love to see the OSD in 2.37 scope and movies left in original aspect with no clipping for CinemaScape Native.

We have been trying out the new Sony Projectors with the 4096x2160 panels that allow 2.35/2.40 to be displayed on full width panel at 4096 up from 3840.
