Hey all, I'm brand new to Kaleidescape so apologies if this has already been discussed. I have sent a support email but am growing impatient after not hearing back for a few days.
Quickly I'll describe my setup in case it's helpful.
I've got a Terra Compact 18TB server in my basement. In the Living room I have a Strato V, connected directly to my 77" Sony A95L which sends audio to HT-A7000 Soundbar via eARC/ARC. Strato is using the provided THX HDMI, Soundbar is using a Belkin HDMI 2.1 and doesn't have issues playing anything else.
In my bedroom I've got a Strato V connected directly to my 65" LG G4, also using the provided THX HDMI cable.
Initially I purchased a strato V to use as a standalone player and get a taste of the kscape experience to decide if I wanted to buy a system. I used it on both TV's mentioned above, and didn't have any audio cutout (although there were av-sync issues when connected from Strato>Soundbar>TV (Soundbar supports HDMI2.1 passthrough) however I did have format issues. I watched The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which is 4K HDR10, but was noticing dark scenes seemed way too dark, and there was some strobing in the shadows. I had never seen the movie so I didn't know what to think here, eventually I stopped the movie and came back into it and boom - night and day difference in picture. I believe it was getting bad HDR info and then fixed itself. This also happened with "Plane" and the same fix worked.
Fast forward and I recieve the Terra Compact 18TB and additional Strato V, set up as described above.
Now I'm having audio cutout issues on top of bad HDR.
"Seven" Drops the audio around the 13:00 mark when Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are talking in the car.
I have tried stopping and coming back in, deleting it from the server and downloading it again, restarting all the components, with no luck.
Although I think the exact moment the audio drops out may have shifted around during these different troubleshooting efforts.
The issue is not isolated to the bedroom Strato, I get the same issue in the living room.
While trying to recreate this in the living room I put Argo on to check for audio dropouts and noticed when i was checking the TV settings it was not in Dolby Vision picture mode, but the strato did indicate it was playing Dolby Vision. Again I stopped the movie and came back in, nothing. I unplug the HDMI and plug it back in and that seemed to do the trick, the TV switched to DV and the picture seemed correct. Based on the other movies doing similar stuff, I don't think this is an actual fix, I suspect the problem will return as it did before.
This also did not fix the audio cutouts from "Seven" and presumably other titles, as that is still happening on both Stratos in either room.
As I mentioned I submitted a support email last week, and added to it the new issues last night but I haven't got a response about either.
Is this something others are experiencing? Surely the experience should be much better than this with a system that costs as much as it does.
If anyone has advice on fixing this please do. It doesn't seem like one defective component which would be a simple swap. In fact the components are from different vendors so doubtful it's even a 'bad batch'
