Apps for streaming from a KSERVER-1500

Is there an app that one can use to stream from the server? My client moved to a new house and the way they now use tech is to pull it up on their phone or tablet and cast to the TV or watch on their tablet directly. With the TV's mounted on the wall and minimizing space used by hardware, the KPLAYER-6000 is a rather large obtrusive device they wish to not have setup a this point and would like to look at other options. I thought about setting up a streaming box on the kplayer with all the equipment tucked away in the basement with the rest of the networking stuff.

No. As you’re probably realising by now, Kaleidescape is quite a closed system. :) Content can only be played via their own players. This is by design as they want everything to be viewed in the best quality on your best screen(s). You’ll find K apps available on the app stores, but they are only for control and store purchases. K has a nice iPad app called Second Screen which is remote that looks like a minature OSD. Only options would be to hide the player away from the Tv and use a long HDMI cable, or run it through a HDMI matrix which allows you to make a single player accessible to multiple TVs. This usually works using long CAT 6 cable runs from a rack hidden away somewhere into a receiver behind each TV which connects via HDMI. This is the set up I have, but obviously the infrastructure has to be in place with all the CAT 6 runs from the rack to your TVs.

Oh, and another, maybe easier option would be to source an M300 player. This is the small form factor player without a disc drive that’s small enough to be mounted behind the TV.

thank you very much for the response. clients had the players tucked away in cabinet away from the TV that was wall mounted, but that was in a custom house that was wired up for all of this equipment. The new place is temp for a little while and doesn't have any wiring above phone or coax. i didn't want to be wiring up the house too much. the server was in a rack in the basement with the rest of the home media equipment. it's a shame kaleidescape don't allow the media to be streamed over the network without a hardware player. Or atleast allow one to upload media without having the physical disk to make better use of the player...c'est la vie...I was thinking of using a slingbox as an option if they wan't to watch their media anywhere, just looking at what to offer them.
