Almost done, then 3 hours...no 4...

Hello all.

I just got my system. For the most part a large number of my collection takes about 25 minutes per DVD to rip.

There are a few that start out as 15 then count down, then somewhere near the 1 minute mark, pop up again as 3 hours to go.

Lord of the Rings was a good example......

I don't see any of these on KScape's bad dvd list.

any suggestions?

Wait them out... there are lots of DVDs out there that can take several hours, a few even take as much as 6, 8, even 10 hours, but almost every disc eventually does import.

wow... thats upsetting when trying to get a library going. but at least I can hope they eventually import. thanks.

Congratulations and welcome to the club. :)

If you have more than one player you can run simultaneous imports.

Probably obvious, but of you're sitting there feeding them in one-by-one, then it's best to manually eject any disc that's having the "long import" problem and set it aside, move on to another disc. Then just put one from that "problem" pile in to your player/reader before you go to bed each night. should be finished in the morning.

a little delay

yes sometimes obvious, but at times I waste a few hours. Best I can do now is search for a used player and have a 2nd import device.

thanks for all the help

actually - search for a used READER... (if you can find one) those are fantastic... much cheaper than a MoviePlayer 2 and gives you an extra device that has the sole purpose of importing discs.

(I'm not referring to the Speed Reader or Bulk Importer - there's a now-discontinued standalone 1-U Reader... it's great. Haven't seen many come up in the Marketplace, but maybe some dealers here have some extras? Here was one that sold I think: http://www.kscapeowners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=199&highlight=reader )

For reference: you can have up to 5 simultaneous imports active (assuming you have enough devices to do this).

I was told by K* that 4 active reading drives was going to give the best overall import speed. That is effectively 2 bulk loader/speed readers per server.

I have done some large systems and I never really ran more than 4 import streams per server.
