Seems like a major disadvantage to buying a pre-release, at least in the case of sequels. Can a movie be returned and bought agian if not watched?

My thinking was I have Deadpool 2 on UHD disc already (D1 on Bluray) so I don’t want to re-buy them right now but because Disney aren’t throwing us a bone with anything it will cost more in the end if you buy anything not in a bundle. It’s good to know now so that for example when the next Captain America is released I know not to buy it individually again if I want the other films at the cheapest price. After D&W was added to the store, but prior to its release, the Deadpool bundle included all three movies for $54.99. Implying that one could preorder D&W by way of buying the bundle. So that would solve the "don't preorder movies that might be added to a bundle" if in fact K "pre-bundles" them?
And just to expand on this a bit -- once the movie goes live, your system has to check in with Kaleidescape's headend services to activate the latent downloaded copy. That check-in is done once per hour and somewhat randomized within the hour to even out traffic to the headend, so it could take up to an additional hour to activate the copy on the server in the unlucky case where it had just checked in before the activation window.By default, availability is based on PDT since Kaleidescape is based on the west coast. The content team can force an availability at a different time if necessary but if a title is slated to be available on "2024-09-30" then it would go live on that date at midnight PDT (so the east coasters wouldn't get it until 03:00 their time).
I suspect that rebooting the server would force a recheck but I'd have to double-check with the team on that.
If all you did was catalog, then you haven't screwed yourself at all (if you aren't counting the shinies you had already bought anyway.)Once you own one in the set they give zero discount so you are paying the full price of $24.99 for the remaining two, mine are $43.34 because I’ve catalogued bluray copies of the first two. We’ve both just screwed ourselves out of getting the first two for 50% off basically but lesson learned for the future, if you eventually want every film in a Disney collection don’t buy any of the films in the collection individually and presumably the same for MGM.
Well I more mean that if I go to get digital versions of Deadpool 1 and 2 I’m now going to have to pay $15 at best on sale, whereas getting all 3 at once $30 D&W, $12.5 x 2 for D1 and D2. Even if we are saying that D&W have a discount too it will still be $5 more in the long run best case scenario. If all you did was catalog, then you haven't screwed yourself at all (if you aren't counting the shinies you had already bought anyway.)
That's not how Disney rolls... D1 & 2 will be $15 on sale whether cataloged or not (as the sale price is less than D2D.) Presuming D&W is similarly priced, the set should change itself to $45 as the lowest of "regular" or set pricing (and if it doesn't then don't buy them as a set.) You won't be any better off than someone who didn't catalog, but you won't be any worse off, and have been able to watch the movie before it went on sale.Well I more mean that if I go to get digital versions of Deadpool 1 and 2 I’m now going to have to pay $15 at best on sale, whereas getting all 3 at once $30 D&W, $12.5 x 2 for D1 and D2. How is Beetlejuice? Wondering if it’s worth the $40 or just stream rent on iTunes for 20FYI, it's Monday morning and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice has already downloaded to my Terra for activation at midnight tonight.
I had a fun time with it. Of course, I revisited the original days before on the K. It's funny the games that nostalgia plays with you. Beetlejuice is just a simple, short, and very stylish movie with a bunch of fun characters. Ditto for the sequel. Very familiar, similar story beats, and style and fun throughout. Certainly there are criticisms to be had, and I wonder when Hollywood will get over the notion that every film needs to be 2+ hours, but if you're a fan of the original I think you'll like this one.How is Beetlejuice? Early Warner titles are stupid expensive. Unless it's something I have to watch tonight, I definitely wait for the price drop. So, if paying more money for a Warner title might improve the chances that we get more titles in full quality, then I'll pay it.
So true. The only reason I pre-order these is when I have friends who "need" to watch it on day 1. Otherwise, add to wish list and wait for the price drop--or the rental, depending on the movie.Early Warner titles are stupid expensive.
