4K movies not on disk

Hey folks. So i definitely see a lot of movies in the kscape store that aren't on disc. How is that working? Is Kscape upscaling them or are they getting some already upscaled files from the studios?

None of it is "upscaled" anymore than movies that are "upscaled" on disc are. Studios have been releasing 4K movies to digital retailers for a LONG time that are not available on disc. The cost of releasing titles on disc is WAY higher than digital due to manufacturing, pressing, packaging, shipping, marketing, etc. So typically what you see on disc is tent pole movies or huge catalog titles. But in digital markets it is not cost prohibitive to releases films that are 4K, so you see A LOT more of them than you do on disc.

Thank you. I didn't even think about that fact that the 4k offerings would be at other digital sellers as well.

4K Titles in Store But Not Available on Disc
