1U only partially powers up

I have a 1U server; when powered on, the little blue power light comes on, the fans come on but none of the following come on: ethernet connection, RS-232 diagnostics port (no output), lights on 4 disk drives. Is this likely a power supply problem even though some things are getting power or likely something else?

If anyone knows the internals of 1U servers and would like to help for a few minutes, I would appreciate it before I pursue this with Kaleidescape support (who previously has requested diagnostics that I now can't provide). Send me a PM, if so.

My guess would be either possible failing power supply (easy to swap), or bad capacitors on the main board.
 
It is likely the main board. Is there anyone that can repair that? Kaleidescape won't do that on out of warranty units.

I am well versed with the 3U server (search my posts on 3U internals). If you post or send me clear pictures of the internals of your 1U unit, I might be able to help you. Without seeing anything or further information, I would say either bad memory or bad power supply.
 
I had same issue on a 1U a number of weeks ago. PSU was fine, it was an issue with the board (well, it wasn't the disks or the PSU, so doesn't leave much else other than sum of "the board" LOL). I never resolved it though :-(
 
I checked the PSU from the 1U on my bench. Voltages are fine. We swapped the memory with another one. No change.

Fishy.
 
Just to let you know, this did turn out to be the PSU. Thanks to the legend that is Rusty 😁 turns out that even when the PSU dies it can still have enough juice in it when it’s not completely dead to power the lights and the fans but nothing more.

I changed the PSU and it all came alive again! 😁
