    Second Screen iPad app

Yeah, Second Screen was written LONG before iPads supported split-screen, and it does not have the ability to adapt its layout to anything smaller than an iPad. At some point, that may come, but it's not possible today.

    Second Screen iPad app

Absolutely! One of the best-staged concerts I've ever seen. And, we do have that one! https://www.kaleidescape.com/movie-store/movie/peter-gabriel-secret-world-live-1994 I do have one beef with that recording, though. The concert was originally shot on film in 4:3 aspect ratio. For later...

    Second Screen iPad app

One of my dearest wishes is that Peter Gabriel and Sting will release a concert film from the tour they did together. They're both notorious perfectionists (PG especially, perhaps), so I'm holding out hope that this is making glacial progress and will eventually happen. It was such a good tour...

Second Screen App not seeing full collection

It shouldn’t be an issue with connection to multiple servers, unless one of the servers is offline. On the Kaleidescape system, all of the servers in a system run a distributed database and one of the servers is the ”primary”. That one is the one that Second Screen connects to, and it has a...

    Second Screen iPad app

I wish! Maybe someday. We do have a Steven Wilson concert but I’m not sure if there’s a difference in distribution. In this case, it’s imported from Blu-ray Disc onto my Premiere system and playing via Co-Star. Transepoch has sharp eyes, but the shiny disc is actually something else in the...

    Second Screen iPad app

Oh, also, the four colored buttons you mentioned are for Blu-ray Disc playback. They don't do anything on content purchased from Kaleidescape.

    Second Screen iPad app

When content is playing, there's a playback-control bar that appears at the bottom of the library view: Tap the button on the right, that looks like a film strip, and you'll see expanded controls with scene, subtitle, and audio options. Important note: there is a bug that affects some of...

Second Screen App not seeing full collection

One of the things that frequently causes this issue is if you’re connected to a player that does not support HDR, and you have a lot of HDR content in your library. Now, you may be thinking, “My player definitely supports HDR!” However, your player determines whether it supports HDR based on...

    Second Screen iPad app

That's correct. The app was designed a long time ago, and since it was iPad-only the buttons seemed like the correct interface for navigation. If you prefer to swipe to navigate the onscreen display, you can use the mobile app on iPhone/Android for that purpose.

US BR & 4K Releases for March & April 2024

You're looking at the details for an old edition of the movie. If you click "Other Editions" over there on the left, you can select the current edition, which is the one you own. You may have followed an old link or something to get to that old version. It's still in the store database for folks...

Stop Making Sense - no upgrade from HD available?

^^ What he said. Thanks, Thrillcat.

    Buying 4k Disks…ummmmm help??

Huh. I don't recall ever having it not work, but then again, I rarely buy physical media anymore.

    Buying 4k Disks…ummmmm help??

On Amazon, you can also just type "Blu-ray" after the movie title. e.g., "The Accountant Blu-ray". That will turn up the physical media including 4K disc. Also available is the popup menu to the left of the search bar. If you select Movies & TV and then type the title, that works too. I find...

The Animal Kingdom (No regular theatrical English Subtitles)

Ugh. Apologies, I’ve seen a similar glitch before on another movie. For those who are morbidly curious: our subtitle logic was not designed to handle the case where a movie has “burned-in” subtitles as part of the actual video frame. So it sees that your system’s language preference is English...

Stop Making Sense - no upgrade from HD available?

For what it’s worth, I noticed that the HD version of Stop Making Sense is listed as having Dolby Atmos as well now.

    Halo Touch vs Non-Touch

Hm. That is discouraging. On my 250s, since it has no custom buttons, I have set up the colored buttons to go to my four most-used sources if the room is off. That means that it's one button press without even picking up the remote to get to Kaleidescape, Apple TV, etc.

New Unfolded Circle Remote (f.k.a. YIO)

No way to bridge commands to serial somehow through Home Assistant? My Radiance is controlled via serial from my Control4.

    Halo Touch vs Non-Touch

I appreciate the feedback. I have a slew of SR-250s but the navigation interface on the little display has become very sluggish with recent releases, so I'm contemplating an upgrade. Since our Control4 driver uses the numeric keypad for T9-style text entry (which makes jumping within lists of...

Stop Making Sense - no upgrade from HD available?

Thrillcat is reading that right. I would add one small note of caution, which is that with pre-orders, sometimes we will know that we will be getting the title, but we don't have all of the technical details yet, so generally I would take the absence of any information with a grain of salt. If...

    4K Ultra HD vs. HDR

If your projector didn't support HDR at all (and you didn't have something else in the signal chain to do tone mapping), then the system would have downloaded UHD or even HD since it would have understood that you had no HDR-capable display. Most projectors these days are "capable" of HDR, but...
