    Okay, but this scenario highlights a question that has loomed ever since the shift away from discs: how do they not come off looking like a $2,000 Roku/Shield? Only charging $1,999 and "let the dealers worry about that" don't count.

    Could always sell first. Some risk of single point of failure, depending on how long it takes to get the new one, but keeps it from becoming a "spare" unit. I'd go with option 2 because it's less devices to maintain (power, network, widgets moving, etc.)

    Kaleidescape Expands Into Cinema Business With Service to Bring Library Titles to Theaters

    Everybody gets a few extra bucks and K picks up some major mass-market cred (something like "Quality good enough for the movie theatre, available within minutes to your home theatre") and exposure via placement in the pre-showing roll. Win-win-win.

    Earlier in the week I was noticing a few titles with pre-configured 4k+extras-only download sets. I hope this option takes-off.

    We've still got a few days. Hopefully they're busy cleaning-up the 4k versions of Strange New Worlds Season 1 and all seasons of Discovery (or adding the extras, because the D2D discount on Paramount TV isn't on-par with the movies.)

    Yeah, $8 Black Friday BD + $5 D2D = better cash price and includes extras, which Warner has gotten downright Dinseyesque about lately.

    It will always try to pull the best it thinks you can display, so not showing an HDR-compatible zone is about the only way programmatically. You could probably simulate that by limiting the player bandwidth in the settings a few minutes before going into a download session. Doing a bulk...

    Sure, but I had to replace my receiver recently and have only calibrated it to the chewing gum & duct tape level, so my results have a larger margin of error than usual. Aside: it sure is hard to focus on mouth-flap and NOT watch the movie, no matter how many times you've seen it before.

    Gave it a go last night. The UHD w/ Atmos definitely had a few points during the initial bridge scenes that looked like a poorly dubbed foreign flick, and a few points (there and scattered throughout) that just looked off. For the most part, it was fine. I wonder if it is object-mix related...

    Anything to avoid providing special features. Does not labeling it "Season 1" mean they aren't planning to release the later ones?

    Not normally, but for some reason it did on this title. I already had the HDR copy downloaded and the UHD appeared in my updates.
