I received the power supply from Sparkle, cost was $215 + tax and shipping.
Same connectors, screw holes as original power supply. Only thing is the IEC power port doesn't match PERFECTLY with the trim plate. But that small trim plate is removable anyways so it allows clear access for the power plug (and switch)

1 FSP70080PSASK-EFI 700W ATX Power Supply,rohs,BB,IO,PFC,Bronze FOB Fremont 215.0000 $ 215.00

Does it also have the same wiring harness as I found an alternative but the wiring harness needed a couple of modifications.

The modified version does come with the exact same wire harness as the original from Sparkle Power. I had just purchased one as well. Key item here is as MrCaseyB mentioned, the power supply placement doesn't fit the trim plate, so you'll have to remove the trim plate to access the power supply plug.

Good day Fourm,

My power supply for my KSERVER-5000 has died. When I opened it up and removed the power supply I was surprised to find a Cooler Master Green power supply inside. I haven’t read that KS used that brand. I took it into a local computer shop and they didn’t see any capacitors that obviously needed to be replaced. What they did notice is that the connector ends are not standard. So…

1) Has anyone retrofitted a new power supply to work? I was thinking of buying a BeQuiet! (Amazingly quiet PS). What I don’t know is how you could retro fit it without knowing what each wire is for. (Sparkle won’t modify 3rd party PS))

2) Does anyone know where I can just buy an original new power supply as KS doesn’t stock them. Power Medic was kind enough to suggest buying one on Ebay. Has anyone tried those?

Thanks. Casey

Hi Casey, I can get you an original Kaleidescape K5000 (3U) power supply, but there have been some posts from members that were successful finding alternatives as well. I'll try to locate those posts, and in the meantime someone may post their experience with alternatives. You may want to try that first as it is less expensive, but I can help if you need one.

The first improvement anyone should make to their Strato players is to upgrade the power supply. The cheap switching power supply that came with my Strato S added background noise. I upgraded to a linear power supply and can see the difference in image quality and noise. Yes, they cost at least $500, but well worth it. I use a Teddy Pardo, but there are a few others to consider. Keces, for example.
