Hi,

I have a Gen 1 Cinema One where the power supply failed & took out the Kboard.

Are the drives worth selling separately & what about the original import rights is that worth anything to anyone?

thanks

I think I put this in the wrong forum! Should have gone in the Hardware forum, can a MOD please move?

thanks in advance

Simon

No problem, no need to move the post. Regarding selling the drives, that cannot be answered in advance, you would have to list them for sale to know for sure. They might have some value to anyone with the original C1 that has a failed drive set and is interested in using your complete drive set as a replacement. This could prove difficult given there may not be many original C1's still being used, but you can certainly try.

The value of the Grandfathered status is another difficult question to answer because there is no longer a trade up program that would benefit from the transfer of those rights. The Premiere servers currently available for purchase from K are all "remanufactured" servers, most of which were acquired by K when they were used to trade up to the Strato and Terra line, so there was no need to transfer the DVD import rights. This means these import rights are likely still attached to the -R server. There may be some exceptions, perhaps received by K in exchange for an in-warranty replacement, so your C1 might still be useful depending on the -R's status (and the desire of the owner to continue to import, or Replicate, protected DVD content). Again, as with the drive set, the only way to know is to offer it for sale (I have no idea what current value would be for either option).
