Disc to Digital Price Reduction

My first hand experience is indicating $1.94 for Twentieth Century Blu Ray to HD disc to digital and $12.92 for Blu Ray to 4K/HDR.

There were a handful of 20th Century Blu-ray disc upgrades I took advantage of for $1.94 (Birdman, Home Alone, Home Alone 2, Rio, Rio 2), but most of the pricing I see for this studio (again, from Blu-ray disc) is higher:
  1. Bohemian Rhapsody
    • $16.69 for HD
    • $16.97 for 4K HDR
  2. Bad Times at the El Royale
    • $12.71 for HD
    • $12.99 for 4K HDR
  3. Birth of a Nation / The Shape of Water / Ferdinand / The Mountain Between Us / Murder on the Orient Express / Hidden Figures / Ice Age: Collision Course / Kingsman: The Golden Circle
    • $12.64 for HD
    • $12.92 for 4K HDR
I'd love to upgrade some of these titles (if not all), but after spending close to these amounts for the original Blu-ray discs, it makes little sense. Are you seeing $1.94 for any of these higher-priced titles?

Thanks,
Andy

I thought Warner titles were supposed to be at the $1.94 or $4.04 special price point. Anyone else have an issue upgrading Heat with Deniro and Pachino? It's showing $12.92 for BluRay disc to HDR.

The digital release of “Heat” is actually 20th Century and not Warner Bros. which did the disc release.

This is important to report for Premier Owners especially with 3U.
If you catalog a BD it will show up as a BD Quality and/or BD Disc in the computer interface of Premier System (many times both).
Even though the disc is not physically not in the system.
If you delete the BD Disc - the disc to digital offer will go away from the store.
I cataloged - now at 1700 movies (half of my collection - slowly going through them all) and went back in and deleted BD Discs wherever I found them duplicate with BD Quality thinking these were redundant and I will save space - only to find that the Disc to Digital offers vanished.
Luckily everything I deleted was sitting in the trash folder and I recovered them .... phew..
So the added advantage of the premier 3U is that you can catalog your BD's and pack away the discs so as upgrades come and K makes them available D2D - they will just appear in the Store as such.
And the catalog library does not take any space in the 3U.
Huh! So I had expected that if I first had the Blu-Ray, then did a HD disk-to-digital, then I could delete the Disc-based movie from the server (which automatically ejects the disc)... but then figured I'd get the same HD->HDR pricing as I would have if i had left the blu-ray installed and the file on the 3U. Is that not the case?
Why isn't buying the "blu-ray equivalent" the exact same as having the blu-ray disc on your Premier system?

Just a quick note on Heat while I am here:

Rights for Heat were originally WB. So early purchasers on the store may see that in their details.

Rights today are with 20th Century. So anyone buying today will see it identified that way.

So all these $1.94 1080p DtoD will go up in price come 5th January?
I have like 200 ... and not sure I will be watching many of them as I have them on Disc...

Pricing is set "through the 5th" as I've been told, FYI. If you're debating making D2Ds, I'd recommend not tempting fate and waiting to the last minute of the last day to be safe.

I don't suppose there's any way to support D2D from a 4K UHD Blu-Ray -> Kscape? I've catalogued all 4K Blu-Ray movies for which I have an HD version, but that of course only makes available the HD->HDR/UHD pricing.

The premiere drives cannot read BD66/100s, so there's no way to verify ownership until the MA-fairies grace us with their presence.

Is there any way to know if the disc to digital prices we see are better than the usual ones? As an example, the Pirates of the Caribbean series is around ~$16. I can't tell if that's the normal disc to digital price or if its better.

All the ~$4 ones were easy to tell. :)

The “Pirates” series are Disney and before these latest offerings there were no d2d on Disney titles.

I insert the included Bluray discs and rec’d credit for Grinch (UHD), Trolls (HD) and Ferdinand (UHD). The upgrade price to UHD was about $4 something. No way to use UHD discs to redeem any disc to digital offers at this time.

When you see the asterisk (*) next to the price that means the disc to digital pricing is equal to or lower than if you didn’t have the disc in there at all.

Another trick I do to see the normal retail price of a movie is Chrome’s incognito mode and visit the K store that way. It’ll show all the regular prices of movies since no account is signed in. I suppose an alternate browser to whatever you’re using would also do the trick.

Newbie K owner Question on D2D for things like HBO Rome TV series…..do you catalog all discs or just need to do 1 disc to catalog the whole season?

I’m assuming all until I get the Alto for cataloging my disc library, but wasn’t sure how HBO TV seasons worked for available titles.

Thanks and appreciate the help!

From my experience when cataloguing a TV series, only one disc was necessary for the full season to be recognized.

Thank you for the quick response!
Re: cataloging, does cataloging take up any space on the terra server, or only takes up space once I take advantage of a D2D offer?

Ie, I can catalog 600 blu ray discs on my 6TB server, but the space is only consumed once I do a D2D offer, and the rest remains in my catalog on a K cloud server?

Cataloging is such a tiddy bitty amount of data that you could catalog thousands and thousands of discs and cataloguing alone won't take up hardly any hard drive space. Its a downloaded movie or tv show or concert that takes up at some space and eventually will fill your hard drive(s).
