Authorized Kaleidescape Dealer
Prices on these components will increase on March 1st. Dealer pricing categories are being reduced to two levels, Silver and Gold, and dealer margins will increase slightly, and dealers are no longer required to buy demo systems.

I'll post the price changes shortly.

Here are the increases:

US and Canada MSRP changes
Effective March 1, 2020

PART NUMBERDESCRIPTIONMSRP BEFORE MARCH 1MSRP EFFECTIVE MARCH 1
K0509-1006Strato S 4K Ultra HD Movie Player - 6TB$ 5,495$ 5,995
K0509-1012Strato S 4K Ultra HD Movie Player - 12TB$ 7,995$ 8,995

K0108-0040Terra Movie Server - 40TB$ 14,995$ 16,495

Yup. The biggest increase is obviously the 24TB Terra, and K indicated it was to bring that component more in line with 40TB Terra.

Jim

Urgh. Are they still doing the trade up program too?

These will end at some point as well, but currently still available. Given these increases, current pricing for upgrades will change as well, assuming the upgrades remain available after March 1st.

Jim

Didn't they just have a price increase 6-8 months ago for the tariffs?

Yes, there was an increase last year, and it was based on tariff and vendor price increases they incurred, according to K.

Seems like a step backwards . Motherboards , processors , memory , hard drives have all increased in capabilities and decreased in price year over year . And two significant price increases in less than a year is strange business decision to say the least . Usually when you try to increase the revenue by increasing margin at the risk of lower sales , it usually doesn’t end well long term . Goal over last few years should have been to lower the prices so they can have a large customer base .

Correct me if I’m wrong but dealer price didn’t go per the email i received. They only raised the MSRP. Kscape still gets there money while the dealer markup could be more or less.

No, they raised the dealer margins as well, but they are reducing the dealer pricing levels from Four down to Two (Silver and Gold).

Wow, these price are getting a little crazy. You used to be able to get into the Encore ecosystem with a $2,500 Alto. That’s something an upper-middle class person could stretch for if they really wanted it. At $6K, just to put your foot in the door, you’re really limiting this to the ultra wealthy. I just don’t get the strategy here. I mean this isn’t even really something they can sell at Best Buy anymore. Total reliance on custom dealers.

I guess they figure those are the only people buying them anyway, so they may as well just jack up the price. Once you get into that range, the price doesn’t really matter much.
