Volume Normalization on Video Playback on Premiere

Here's an old list. I didn't find the methodology.. more here.. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=121087

Volume Normalization on Video Playback on Premiere

Wow! I see that supporting live decoding and offset measurement could be a non starter from a cost/licensing perspective. Let alone processing power. When Kaleidescape processes the mezzanine file, what type of effort would it take to capture the offset value from, say, a predetermined level...

    Strato & Electrical Noise

Echo Jim's comments. ^^ In my last home, I had a ground differential. Somehow the house was grounding out somewhere else. I had the chatter/hum from the Strato/Alto too then. I had a Panamax line conditioner, w/ all components connected, on a dedicated circuit. The sound/hum was only during...

AN IMPORTANT INSIGHT FROM AN AVS KALEIDESCAPE POST FOR THE PRESIDENT AND HEAD OF R&D

Posting to AVS gives me fear of missing out (FOMO). Just avoid that site and post here, thanks. 😆

Roon Server / client integration with high-res music in K store

Kaleidescape is out of the “music only” business. The company demonstrated that with discontinued Kmusic. Use the Strato for concerts— it’s better than anything else thats out there. Roon is nice. I use it for playing LP “rips” and my CD library. I tried Tidal & Qobuz integrations and they’re...

Kaleidescape Video Review and Overview - NEED YOUR INPUT

Matt... Good to see you here. I think beyond the basics of enjoying the movies on Plex or Kaleidescape you should address some of the intangible things. No. 1 How much your wife and kids like it. No. 2 The difference between ripping and downloading between powerlifting sets. 💪 No. 3 The lack...

    2.2 Aspect Ratio

Mike... First I’m excited you answered! I completely understand your comments. Further, constant area is something I have espoused— the benefits outweigh any of the CIH drawbacks. Talking more on Variable Aspect Ratio films, Yes, Kaleidescape elects the most open aspect ratio. That UX...

    2.2 Aspect Ratio

Is there metadata for variable aspect ratios? e.g. Mission Impossible : Fallout has two 1.90:1 scenes in an overall 2.40:1 film. This will show a brief projector “overshoot” during those scenes. My opinion is: 1.78:1 screens should be fundamental screen; its the geometric mean. Users, should...

Star Wars-A New Hope / UHD or HDR

Nelson... Good clarification. You're pointing out that it's Star Wars not the projection system. HDR's implementation and tone mapping ranges from hit to miss, this comment has been said above. I think that's why there are projector image presets and external tone mapping boxes to adjust the...

Star Wars-A New Hope / UHD or HDR

Nelson.. I agree. The UHD versions are subjectively "better" when using a display that cannot achieve the light output required for HDR. The local cinema sets their screen levels to 14fL +/- 3fL. The level they set the theater at is how I rationalize-- that even if I went to see it in the...

I have this same question. Thank you.

    Netflix/Prime/Apple+ etc films

Streaming is subpar. I want Netflix to allow the niche group of Strato owners to buy Netflix Original content. I have Stranger Things on UHD Disc. So it is possible to get a mezzanine file. I am just not sure if it makes any money for Kaleidescape.

Please help me rate and valuate my library.

Peter, I give it an A+. We have many of the same movies. It makes it easier to share the spreadsheet mentioned above. I hope you can secure your loan.
